Closing Day 2012 Crowd Prediction

So I heard that last Sunday was packed. Anyone think closing day will be really crowded? It's going to be pretty chilly, doesn't look like the temperature will reach 50. I remember last year, closing day had a fairly low crowd.

between 1 person and a Million

looking at my 'records',

2011-cold/very cold large crowd

2010-cool/cold small crowd

2009-cold small crowd

2008-cool/cold small crowd

2007-cold medium crowd

hard to predict

I don't remember last year having a large crowd, and I remember it being a pretty nice day. But I was there almost every HW so I could be getting them confused, but it's such a sad day that it usually sticks in memory.

I predict it will be crowded. However, I concede my prediction to whatever Jeff/Walt's Magic 8 ball says.

in my post (3 above this),large crowd was meant compared to what would have been expected for a cold last day,NOT meant compared to a summer large crowd.

I've been at the park every year on closing day since 2008 and I can assure that closing day, being a Sunday, is not all that crowded. There will be a lot of coaster enthusiasts trying to marathon to get their last rides in, that's about it.

Ill be one of those there the last weekend. Have reservation at Camper Village and heading over tomorrow around noon. Weather not looking all that great but will be fun to get final rides in for the season.

We will be at camper village this weekend too, in "my site" (the one I always get) which has a great view of Dragster, Magnum, and Gemini from my RV's rear picture window.

Weather tomorrow evening looks like it might clear up in the evening. I try to arrive around noon, to go for a jog around the point and get cleaned up before early entry.

It is a shame that they've erected that fence on the beach (Gatekeeper construction) so it's no longer possible to run the shoreline all the way down past the parking lot, Kinzel's house, etc. That's a nice run.

I want to go Sunday but not sure if I'll be able to. I want to get some last rides!

was there yesterday late evening, cold,HUGE crowd. Mean Streak,Mine Ride, & Gemini were very short lines,TTD wasn't running,MF was a 2 hour wait and it was a cold ride at 11:45 pm.

Today's not looking very promising because of Hurricane Sandy's waves of rain fronts coming in.

They are predicting 14 foot high waves on the lake, I hope this does not destroy GKs construction site.....

Yeah because they've never had 14 foot waves before.

Oh yes they've had 14 foot waves before. In fact the NOAA open waters forecast for Lake Erie has a storm watch for winds to 50 knots and waves of 14-18 feet by Monday evening.

Just got home, and crowds were light, however, many rides were closed due to wind, increasing wait times on open rides.
Question: This morning, Millennium Force was running all 3 trains, but only loading 2. They said it was because of the wind and potential rain. Why even keep it on the track? The queue was only about 1/3 down the ramp, but made for a 30 minute wait by running an empty train.

Yeah Friday night I was ridding magnum an I looked out over the lake and I could tell the waves were pretty huge because of the wind, almost looked like the ocean. I can't imagine them today with all this bad weather

Did anybody else see Iron Dragon valleyed behind TTD?

No, but not surprised with the wind and cold temperatures. We just got home from the park and it seemed like a lot of the coasters were not running today due to the wind. Just watching corkscrew, it was not carrying much speed through the loops.

We just got home too! It was an adventure and it was fun!! The winds were crazy there! Wicked Twister was a wild ride because we were in the front and with the wind...the sand was hitting us hard! I was so glad to make today with the wild weather all around right now!
