Midway Matt and I started early to get to Sandusky to meet with some friends for a last get-together breakfast for the season, what a blast! Matt didn't take too bad of a beating wearing his MSU gear with all the OSU gear! ;) We then hit MF for Joe Cool and had a great ride first thing in the morning!
We wandered around the park afterwards, I had my sights set on that wonderful Raptor replica and had no luck, hit every store I could think of. Matt got to meet "Woodcarver Paul" and Matt bought a really cool hand carved dolphin that Paul had made. I figured that would be fair if I were to buy that Raptor replica...;)
We left the park around noon to go get in that long line for our season passes for next year. A lady behind us was very vocal about how CP charges for an online order so she came to the season pass center and was upset cause she had to pay $10 to "park". I think I would have paid the $3.. It kind of stinks that we have to physically come to the park to renew our passes next year because at this time, we won't be able to renew by mail because they want to upgrade the computer system. I like my wind breaker and we got a free ticket to boot! Guess that will go in my CP collection. I can't tell you the last time I saw a CP ticket! ;)
Returned to the park a bit later and hit rides that we usually don't ride. We rode Turnpikes, Cedar Downs, Blue Streak, and Calypso. Did see the magic show at the theater, it was pretty good and then we finally hit Raptor because the line was a lot shorter than it was earlier. Matt was impressed with the DVD option but we didn't buy it. It was pretty funny watching ourselves ride the ride.
We rechecked some of the stores thinking we had missed seeing the Raptor replica, no luck again. Ran into LuvRaptor outside of Speed Zone and asked her if she had any luck (which she didn't either :( ) and we both were very disappointed to find out that there were no Raptor trains in sight at any CP store.
We then were getting hungry so we went to the car to have a quick snack and then came back and rode Magnum. I still like that ride a lot too. What a classic!
We then just wandered around until closing time and rode the last train of the 2007 season on MF.
The Maverick line was full queue most of the day so I never rode it. I figured if I got lucky and saw a golden ticket, that would have been my opportunity to ride. Never saw a ticket, although I know someone who did.. ;) But last train on MF was a good alternative and I am glad we did it.
Overall we had a great relaxing trip, it is sad to see CP closed for the season, but we will be back sometime next year. It was awesome seeing old friends and meeting new ones. :)
We hope everyone has a great offseason!
