CLOSED September 5th and 6th

lol I realized it as soon as I typed it, sorry for the confusion! Labor Day seems so early this year!

I'm a Honda employee, and honda has rented out cedar point for next Saturday. They've had this scheduled since at least may I believe. It's a pretty good deal, access to the park, and you receive a fast lane pass for running a 5k before the park opens:)

There are still signs up stating the park is closed for a private event on sept 5 & 6th.

Ok, here is what I know and found out from someone who works at Honda. I work with Honda all the time and have many contacts there and was able to find this out from him this morning.

Honda has rented out the park Saturday. Not Friday but Saturday for their employees.

So I am wondering if they are closed Friday to finish setting up for Halloweekends maybe or to prep the park for Saturday?

He also said they've been going back and forth between Kings Island and Cedar Point over the past few years..

Just sharing what I know.

Ahhhh..gothca...

I can't guarantee this would work, but if you really have an itch to hit the park this weekend, you could sign up for the glow run on Friday:

The park has been open this coming Friday for many years. In fact, it was on the calender up until only a few weeks ago when they decided to remove it suddenly.

It was a great day for riding at the park. We have gone almost every year since I can remember.

Pretty disappointed that they decided to just drop that day. We had friends who were flying in to see family among other things, planning on that Friday to visit the park. They were not too happy when we told them news and are unable to visit.

You just need to check those dates before you decide to go to Cedar Point. We have a lot of other things to do in our area just incase you make a mistake on the dates. I have seen this happen.

It was definitely open as I also planed on going. It been a great night in the past, lots of ERT on everything! But if you look at other CF parks it seems like they are all closed or bought out for those two days also. Maybe Matt decided instead of gambling on a poor attendance weekend he would take the sure thing and rent out the park. Sucks for me, but finally someone who knows how to run the place.

If they were open today, I bet the water rides would be busy. It is 98 out and feels like 110.

This right here. Thank you for understanding!

I went to Kings Island on August 20th. Park was pretty much empty. You could power ride anything you wanted. Waited more than one train/cycle about 5 times all day. Longest wait on Diamondback was at the bottom of the steps and that was only once. We never waited for Banshee on the steps of the station; every ride was a walk up to the station. All other rides were walk ups. Talking with people there, crowds were the same Monday and Tuesday of that week and were expected to the same the rest of the week. Other people indicated crowds were that way every year for that week.

Maybe Kings Island didn't have the opportunity to rent out the park that week like CP did today and tomorrow. The park was open from 10 to 8 each day. CP would have been open for 4 hours today (5 with ERT). May well be the case that this year was an exception for today not a matter of the park taking the sure thing with the rental of the park. We shall see.

Does anyone want to hazard a guess on what it costs to rent Cedar Point out for a day? I would imagine it would have to be incredibly expensive.

4 million and it rained, I don't feel so bad I missed it now. I wonder if they can get a rain check on that.

This morning's Plain Dealer had a picture of Lebron at the Akron St. Vincent football game last night. Not sure how long he was there.
