Does anyone know if there going to clean up and remove all of the water park this year before the 2007 opening?
I belive jw means the old waterpark on the Geauga Lake side of the park. I have been wanting that cleaned up or ripped out for 2 years now.

I don't know when they they'll have it cleaned up. Probably not before opens - hopefully work on it for 2008 season.
Here's what I think they should do with that area:

The land likely won't be cleaned up until the park has a need for it. Why? For the same reason the the Cedar Point (I'm not sure about other parks in the chain) switched to bi-weekly paychecks for employees this year: It gives them more time to hold on to the money.

You think they should host a picture of their park and then tell people about it but not make it available?
That's a good idea, I can't believe no one there has thought of it yet.

^ sorry guess my geocities site has a limit on how many people can look at it. Sorry about that. get what you pay for I guess. It was working when i posted it and it should work again later.
I'd like to see something else go in there. Maybe once they do remove the old waterpark, could build another steel coaster. Maybe in the height range of 150 feet. I'm sure they still aren't allowed to go over 200 ft, but maybe they can come close to that level.
They should be able to get a 200 footer along 43... if they ever deem it necessary that is. Doesn't seem likely too soon.
My money is on a future expansion of the kiddieland into the pavilions along the lake. The pavilions could be easily moved to any number of sites in the park.
Turtle beach held a lot of memories as a kids for most of us who can remember that area. I feel the area would serve well as a 'groves' area for picnics.

I highly doubt Geauga Lake will see another coaster for a while. Especially now after removing Steel Venom and X-Flight. Now removing Steel Venom wasn't a big deal because it had mechanical problems all the time. X-Flight was hardly down and was the best ride in the park, probably second to Dominator and Thunderhawk. So unless they can figure out ways to get people into the park or something, it's going to be a while. Hopefully though they do clear up the old waterpark area. I mean at least remove everything and then level it out. That way when they do want to remove something they don't have to work that hard to do so.
They should add a bunch of flat rides to the 50's midway, and then put a power tower like ride in the old water park, at the top have giant lit up signs that say "Geauga Lake" in big letters. They should move the rides in happy harbor to the 50's area, and move dinoisland over to the north side, maybe occupying the old water park, and then expand WWK into happy harbor.

Everyone always is talking about rides when it comes to GL. They don't need them. You're all just setting yourselves up for disappointment. GL needs to find a way to market a local family park very similar to MiA. A small amusement park with a waterpark connected to it. Marketing is key to getting the word spread to makes this park a sucess.
Big new rides are at CP and that's where you're going to have to go to do that type of thing.

That is true but unfortunate. I think CP and GL can coexist in the market as they have for over 100 years. Taking all the thrill rides out of GL reduces your audience. WWK is great but has a limited audience. I am not saying build a 600 ft hyper at GL but some unique thrill rides would be a nice addition, maybe that’s what’s coming but from what we see now its hard to imagine anything else. I guess The Dick pretty much summed it up in his video interview and PD article a few weeks ago, “if you want thrill rides go to CP”. Not that I would accuse them of making a mistake (removing animals) but I really think this direction is not the right one for that park in Aurora. They have to rely on company picnics and I know if my company went there I wouldn’t stay to long. At least the first TV commercial this year is great – like my 12 yo daughter said “it even makes me want to go!”
I say clean up of the entire park will take quite some time. Maybe if they jump on it, 2008 or 2009. I remember going to that park as a child and the clientel was just as bad as the park was. And at that time I was a child and could realise that the park could not compare to Cedar Point before it was Six Flags and before It was G.L. again.
