As do I. Country music makes "pop crap" seem deep, soulful and intelligent by comparison. Seriously - many country "singers" are failed pop artists who realized singing with a twang (about their long-lost dog) pays more than singing with Danny, Donnie, Joe and Jordan knockoffs.

I don't know if I'd go that far personally. For me, it's not that country is necessarily some lesser art form than pop/rock, it's just not one that I'm into.

After hearing several current pop songs redone as country (while the pop version is still playing on top 40 radio, mind you), I've lost all artistic respect for the genre. :)

I hear you. On the other hand, there are still some very fine artists in the genre -- Allison Krauss comes to mind, among others. And I don't mind some bluegrass or old school country once in a while.
