To do controls on any rides with blocks, you'll have to pass your visuals. It's a 20 question test and you can only miss 2. It really isn't that hard though. Your TL/ATL's will go over all of the questions with you before you take your test.
2010: Millennium Force & Mantis
2011: Raptor
2012: Raptor, Sky Ride and Wicked Twister
2013: Co-Team Leader of Sky Ride
2014: Supervisor of Slingshot/Skyscraper
there are "classes" that you will have to do after processing in. there is one for housing, one for new employees, and one for all employees
2010: Top Thrill Dragster Crew
2011: Top Thrill Dragster Crew
It's all easy common sense stuff (or at least it should be common sense). They cover everything you need to know.

i know but what on?!
Since you're not in rides, you won't have to take any tests or anything.
The classes you'll have will be:
- Cornerstone Training
- 1st year orientation
- Housing Training
Once you're with your crew, there might be more things that you'd have to do, paperwork and stuff like that.

you will HAVE to pass the visuals test. but they teach you everything during training week.

...Mike?
The visuals aren't hard. Your TL will go over everything you need to know before the test. I can garuentee these will be questions on it:
- What does a control host need to do to show crossing of the train? (They put their hands in the air, and announce cross over the PA)
- If a ride host gives you the double thumbs down sign, what are they asking you to do? (ESTOP!)
- If a ride host is signaling you with their hand up in the air, what are they asking for? (Open seats in 5 [for rides like Mantis, idk if Raptor does the same system] or release harnesses)
Stuff like that... it's mostly common sense.
There will be a few questions about the rides blocks. The best advice I can give you for that is to just draw the blocks on a piece of paper. It doesn't have to be perfect, just keep it in the right order so you can draw the trains where the questions asking. Only one train can be in one block at one time. I'll use Millennium as an example. One of the questions you might find about MF's blocks is:
- If there's a train that has yet to clear waiting, a train in unload where would the next train stop?
...First, Millennium has four blocks. Load, Lift, Waiting and Unload. So if there's a train in waiting and a train in unload the only other places the train could be would be in load or on the lift. Assuming that the train has been sent, it'd stop on the top of the lift.
That probably means absolutely nothing to you, but yeah. Those are the types of questions that will be on the visual board tests. Each ride has its own unique test that's for the ride. So Raptor's visuals would be different then Millennium Force's and Millennium's would be different then say... Corkscrew.
Hope that helps a little.

The hardest test (as far as anything written goes) is the Skycoaster Site Controller test for the Ripcord crew, and even that's pretty easy. Unlike other rides, the site controller test has things you'll only know about if you study, like questions about maintenance procedures and different types of Skycoasters. Coasters are really pretty simple machinery, at least from an operators standpoint. They're designed to be easy to learn and run.

just wondering what happens if you fail the visuals test?
It's really not something to stress out about at all. If you fail it you take it again. You can take it once a day. They go over the answers with you after you take it and tell you which ones you got wrong. It's pretty easy to begin with, even easier teh 2nd time around since you know what you got wrong. If you fail again anyway you take it again.
