They still have the make-your-own salad, but the rest of their menu is gone, replaced by pizza. This was the most disappointing discovery I made opening weekend, as Chuck Wagon used to be my favorite place to eat...
The explanation seems simple. The Frontier Inn used to be a pizza place, replaced by Chick-Fil-A, a chicken place. So, replace Chuck Wagon's menu, which included baked chicken, with pizza...
This was always a great bargain lunch for my son and I. I would get the salad, and let him order whatever he wanted, usually the BBQ pork sandwich. Then I'd eat all his leftovers, and we'd both walk away full for under 13 bucks...

The chicken fried steak with the gravy was my favorate.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Oh Man! That was a baaaaad decision, IMHO. Not only was the food pretty good, it was fairly priced, for CP. Plus, it was kind of "authentic" for the theming of the area. We ate at the Chuck Wagon many times when in the park. It was a way to get a decent sit-down meal, in the "atmosphere" of the area, without all the bells, whistles, lights and other loud crap you sometimes encounter in other "inside" restaurants at CP. And I always loved the metal plates. I am not the most "green" person in the world, I will admit, but I hate the idea of using plastic for everything, most of all, food service utensils and supplies.
These many food issues discussed here & elsewhere beg the question: Was there a cranial-anal inversion in Food Services sometime last winter?

Hmm. This is sad news...mainly because it's tied to childhood memories of the point, but also because it was one of the few places that actually felt "old west" in Frontiertown.
So let me get this straight...
On the FRONTIER TRAIL, CP added a chinese place, a christ-fil-a, and got rid of the western menu from Chuckwagon?? And the metal plates???
Well, at least they added a shooting gallery.

From my June 4, 2006 trip report:
"After the show, we went next door to the Chuck Wagon. The food was okay, although Catherine's chicken fried steak was cold and the server literally ripped apart half a chicken by hand to give me my quarter white, but took half the white breast with it, which was a little irritating. I wasn't overly impressed with the meal, and at $11 with the drink, I think we'd have been better off at Midway Market."
AND it was served on black plastic plates...so they must have dumped the metal plates last year.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
The metal plates may have been gone longer than that; I don't remember seeing them for some time.
We went there from time to time in the last two seasons, but only because I advocated for it; no one else in my family liked the food very much. And, the place was nearly always empty. The change is not much of a surprise.
The good news is that the decor seems unchanged.
