Cheap, good hotel near the park?

I am planning a trip to Cedar Point probably within the next month and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a good, fairly cheap (<$100) hotel near the park?

I've never been and this would be my first time in the area, if that changes anything.

Thanks for any help.

Try looking around here: https://www.google.com/maps/search/hotels+near+Sandusky,+OH/@41.462...,13z/data!3m1!4b1=
This way you can actually see how far they are from the park, and if you click on them, you can see the prices.

Do not stay at the Comfort Inn Maingate, that place is a dump.

Always had good luck with the Knights inn just down the road from castaway bay. Its nothing to write home about, but its cheap (i think around $50 a night) and has a free breakfast in the mornings.

I stayed at the brand new Hampton Inn in Milan this past weekend, it's about 15-20 minutes from the park. They had a special on the Hampton website for 99.00 a night. Everything is new and fresh, breakfast was good, super comfortable beds.

Motel 6 in Milan (US 250). It ranges anywhere from $39.99/night to $70/night based on the operating days. It's about 15 minutes from the park, but it's quiet, comfortable, and has great staff! Not to mention, very clean! :)

Remember, it's nice to be important- but it's more important to be nice.

That Hampton Inn in Milan is awesome but sadly most wouldn't call it cheap. It's new, having just opened last month. Definitely very clean and modern inside, we also stayed there Friday evening for the HalloWeekends party. Highly recommended. Just note that you have to enter by Days Inn and Motel 6 before the train track overpass. I made the mistake of thinking there was a driveway for the hotel itself the first time.

As for the Motel 6, we've also stayed there. It's not bad for basic accommodations, no breakfast or anything. I've seen it get up to $80-$90+ during peak season, though. At those prices, I'd rather head next door to Hampton Inn. :)
