sorry if this has been asked before (and im sure it HAS), but a search yielded nada...
what, in your opinions, is the best, CHEAPO hotel to stay at by CP?
my hubby and i are trying to get out there October 13th-15th and we want a CLEAN, inexpensive place to stay.
we have stayed at the Comfort Inn right off of I-80 and Rte 250 and at the Comfort Inn right by the main gate of CP. the former was nice, the latter was just OK.
any other recommendations? we want to do this as cheaply as possible, but want to avoid the Dusk-Til- Dawn type places...
thanks in advance!!

Comfort Inn at US250 & OH2.
Maples Motel on US6.
Bayshore Campground on Cleveland Rd. if you're into Cabins or Camping
We stayed at the Maples Motel for the first time this year after reading good reviews on here about it. It was definately worth it. Very clean, very cheap. The lady there was very nice too.
I just noticed that the dates listed for 2006 end September 25, so I am not sure if they are going to be open for the rest of Halloweekends.

Yes, the Maples is closed for the year. Sadly. :(
Go to Priceline.com and bid $35/night on a room, and you're bound to get the Travelodge on 250. It's an older place, but it's pretty clean and up to standards for a "decent" hotel.
It's not some place I would spend more than $40 or so for, but for that price, it's worth it.
If your looking for a less expensive hotel and close
to cedar point,i suggest the breakers express. The
hotel is clean and meets all cedar point standards.
I am staying there this coming weekend. Have a
great time.
I'd look into the Breakers Express too if you're going for the weekend... we've got reservations for the weekend of October 6th-8th, and if you book a package you get 4 friday night tickets, 2 saturday tickets, two nights accomodations and a parking voucher for $209. That's tough to beat....
The Microtel at the Rye Beach Rd exit off route 2 is a nice place. I just checked the rates for those nights and there website has $44.00 a night.
Same rate as the Econolodge at the end of the Causeway.. It is closer and I have stayed there for years. Sometimes for a week at a time back in my park visiting hay-day.
Was just there this past weekend.. and will probably be again.. ;)

R.I.P. Fright Zone, and Cyrus along with it.
Me and one of my friends stayed at the south shore inn right behind castaway bay and it was 140 for the first night, Really nice hotel if you ask me.
I was recently looking into good cheap hotels who allow 18 year olds to stay. I found that Roadway Inn and Super 8 Sandusky both do so. They are the same price, so I chose the Super 8 over Roadway.

For the same price at Breakers Express you can get a jacuzzi room at Comfort Suites. Just ask for a free upgrade, and as long as they arent full they will always give it to you ($60).
Promoter of fog.
This was my first year that I have ever stayed a night at any hotel close to Cedar Point. For $65 dollars a night, we stayed across the street at Econo Lodge. Very nice! It was a one bedroom, free breakfast, free access to the pool until like 11 or midnight, and Cable TV.
Hey, I was just reading this post, and I wanted to let you all know that the Maples Motel is NOT closed this weekend, they're open. They're actually open through the end of September, and the rates can't be beat. I'd suggest calling to make a reservation.. the number is 419-626-1575. Tell her Rory sent you.
I'm planning on going the last weekend of the season for Friday night and part of Saturday. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how busy the motels are this time of year? I must have counted over 20 on my way through Sandusky. I just wanted to know if it was possible just to get a room at some of the motels without a reservation, or are they usually booked up? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
Ohh I almost booked there for Saturday the 28th. I did some more research and got a better price at the Super 8.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
My guess is that there will be few, if any, hotels that are sold out for closing weekend. If Breakers Express drops to $60/night, that's a good indication of what they exact the demand to be.
If you are not staying at cedar point resort's, then i
suggest the hampton inn. They cost more then other
lodging facilities but you are getting a very clean
room and excellent services. Avoid the super eight
at all cost. The walls are paper thin, you will hear
the person snoring in the next room, there are knats
in the bathroom. The drain in the bathtub doesn't
work very well. Enter at your own risk.

I stayed at the Ramada Inn a few years ago and it was very clean and very reasonably priced. I don't know if it's changed. Last time I was there there was a resturant attached to it, which was also pretty good.
