Cheap Cabins Opening Weekend
I just wanted to pass this along to anyone who may be looking for cheap lodging for opening day. I got an email today from KOA Campgrounds (of which there happens to be one about a mile from CP) about a buy a night, get a night free promotion for their cabins on opening weekend.
If you stay Friday, May 11, you get Saturday, May 12 for free. They've been doing this for a few years, and this is where I've spent opening weekend the last couple of seasons. Last year we had a 6 person cabin that only cost a total of $86 for the two nights. The cabins are pretty nice, the larger ones like we stayed in are really more like small pre-fabbed homes with your own bathroom/shower and fully stocked kitchen included.
Here's the link to take advantage of the promotion. It looks like I might be staying at Breakers this year for opening weekend, but if that falls though, the KOA cabin is my fallback plan.
