Will Chaos be around much longer? Several parks have removed their Chaos rides even though the ride only came on market in the mid 1990s. I do like Chaos even though even though I don't ride much anymore. I saw on a used ride website that 5 Chaos were for sale from various parks and had a picture of Cedar Point's ride but does not mention that CP's is one of them that is on sale.

That just happened to be the picture they grabbed.
As far as I know, CP's Chaos is not for sale. I love the ride, but the operations changes (all manual releases and only 1 op) have killed the ride. It just takes too long to load and unload.

There was a thread closed not even an hour ago about this exact topic. As Jugga said, they just used the picture of Chaos at CP. I absolutely love Chaos... it's one of my favorite flats at the park. I hope it doesn't go anywhere anytime soon.

^^^ Speaking of which, when did that happen? I just noticed that on our last trip to the Point and was like, WTF. When I rode it I thought for sure they cars just opened and you got out.

I didn't realize the restraints had issues on the ride too. The only Chaos thing I had heard about was the one at Michigan's Adventure that crashed.
At Six Flags New Orleans, they had a 'King Chaos'. Is it different than normal Chaos?

BTW: I wouldn't mind one of these
Does anyone know what has happened to that park as of now? (2007) because of the hurricane and all........:(
Many of the rides are being moved to other parks. That's all I know. Perhaps maXaiRaptor knows more?

I rode chaos once 2 seasons ago, and will not be getting back on. Personal preference, I know, but that just was not fun.
Promoter of fog.
DB - did they ever determine the cause of that? The manual release is one of the worst ideas ever (for a primary release) just because of the time it takes to unload the ride. Of course, this is the same park that brought us "hit you in the head" seat-belts on Corkscrew.

Six Flags is fighting the city because they are stuck in a 90+ year lease with the city. They want to abandon the park. Many rides have been sent to other SF parks. The Mega Zeph was the landmark wooden coaster that was a resurrection of the old Zepher at Lake Pontchartrain years back. Its sad to see the park go to ruins. There used to be pictures online of the park after the hurricane. There were from 6 to 25 feet of water in the park. Most equipment was deemed useless. It makes me sad to see them abandon our city at such a time, but thats Six Flags for you.
^SFNO is a complicated situation and putting money into that park wouldn't make much sense.

That's a little like saying putting money into New Orleans wouldn't make much sense. The city was devastated much more than the park was. Granted an entire city deserves being rebuilt more than an amusement park. But, it was a natural disaster.
It may be a false rumor, but I heard Six Flags used Katrina to get out of its lease because the park wasn't as profitable as they had hoped. So, they were like, "Oh the park is destroyed - we can't rebuild. Our lease is not valid anymore." If the park was a money-maker, they would have found a way to get insurance or whatnot to rebuild.
Ideally and logically, it doesn't make sense to rebuild anything in that region, including New Orleans itself.

Well, if you look at New Orleans (the French New Orleans, the part that everyone is worried about when a hurricane comes) it is above sea level. Which is why, despite all the worrying, it escapes with minimal damage and is open within weeks if not days. It should and will remain for many years to come. The problem is the New Orleans that was built on drained swamps.
