Changed Your Mind on Ride Removal???

*sigh*

Giant slide... and the fiberglass burns that came with it if you fell out of your sack.. THAT was a great CP memory that I miss in a kinda sadistic kinda way... :(

Fear the Mullet!

Sigh...the Giant Slide...and the memories of my little brother (then 5) halfway down the first bump, clutching those little rails that prevent collisions in terror..

Rideop on microphone: "Little boy in the blue? Let go....Little boy in the blue, LET GO!"

He was teased about that for years. The family forgot about it for quite some time--until he screamed a couple of choice words on his first PT drop.

Yeah I remember Giant Slide. I like the lake side edge, you could see the mini golfers below. Plus the unpleasant slide burns. :) I remember I got a nasty one that lasted for weeks.

The Sky Slide definitely made for some good memories. After riding it, the local playground just didn't cut it.

As to removal, while I love trees, CP to me means rides. It's the primary (though not only) reason I go. If I had to choose ride removal versus cut down trees, all else being equal I'd be the first one out with a chain saw.

I would like some shade for the midway, though!

The Giant Slide - the rickety staircase up the left side always alarmed me - I didn't feel safe until I was actually in the burlap bag. And the races with friends, trying to slide all the way to the carpet, etc. Good stuff. There's a lot to be said for more interactive rides like that.

funney how that slide was removed for a "local playground" LOL :-)
i miss some of the older rides, especially the pirate ride. Granted, it was old, and probably cost more to maintain than it was worth at the point they took it out, but how can you beat a cheap ripoff of pirates of the carribean, except on this one you could jump out of your seat and dance with the pirates? Sigh....bring it back, everytime I walked past the arcade they have there now in the last two years of working, I think I've seen 4 people total, last time I checked, Street Fighter wasn't a very popular game anymore.

The Pirate ride was not a cheap ripoff of Pirates of the Caribean. CP's Pirate Ride existed in the early 60's at a park I believe was called libertyland. The Earthquake ride was from there also. CP bought these rides when the other park closed. Anyways, CP's Pirate came before Disney's Pirates of the Caribean.

Freedomland... hehehe

Actually, it's a little-known fact that Walt was a CP aficionado, and Pirates of the Caribbean is actually based on the Pirate Ride. Walt went to his grave regretting that he could never quite get his version to live up to the original. Bet you also didn't know that the Matterhorn is really just a Jumbo Jets clone wrapped up in a big papier mache mountain.
