Change a coaster.

^^^ Might i suggest that you sit in the front row of any car. Im 6'4" and when i sit in the front row of a car i have plenty if room and a comfortable ride.

I have, and while a little better the ride still does not improve much.

The souvenir cups will fit in my cargo pockets, but I have to take the lid off and put it in my other pocket. Assuming next seasons cups are the same size, they should. I like that cup on a hot day. As long as the bins are there I will use them. I put them in my pocket for MF, TTD and Gatekeeper because they are not allowed there. I'm both for and against the bins. I'd like to see them gone on Maverick because the line goes too slow and I think the removal of bins could drastically reduce wait time.

You can fit that red cup in a cargo pocket? I need a pair of those shorts!

Im all for removing the bins! I think id be a great business move for CP to have more people purchasing lockers lol. I never need the bins anyway. Anything that puts extra weight on me im leaving it in the car.

I like the bin system on gatekeeper, if only that could be incorporated on other rides

The issue at Maverick is not the bins. The ride just isn't as high of a capacity as most of the other coasters. Maverick has a fairly lengthy load/unload time. I definitely do not like bins on rides, but Maverick, I don't see an issue with it there.

They are made by Urban Pipeline, which is a Kohl's brand (I think).

OK, so I'm not exactly a proponent of replacing the trains on a classic like Magnum, but i think it would be pretty awesome. Think about riding in a comfortable B&M train over those bunny hills...

I would probably reroute Raptor's exit stairs, extend the station behind the current bins, and have 3 row shelves instead of bins that open and close for all 3 trains (kind of like Kings Island has with Beast)

Beast has bins :P

I will say on the loose article side, I totally agree but at the same time I don't. I can get on the ride fast w/ loose articles, ect. in any ride. Just a little hustle and prepwork before you even get up the the queue gate for next ride. For instance I carry a small drawstring bag for everyones wallets, phones, my glasses or gf's sunglasses, and small things like my hat, souvinier cup if we take it, ect. Just stuff to use during the day and for when we need it.

Just as soon as we hit the station or close to it, everything's off, put away ready to go. Gates open, cross the train quickly and go.

Loose articles aren't really the problem, it's guests speed that's the problem. If they wouldn't lollygag and putz (no pun Jeff :D) then it wouldn't be so bad, but sadly, they do, and we have issues.

If the park is going to sell those souvenir beverages, why not install matching cup holders on all the rides?

Because I don't want covered in coke freestyle products going upside down :)

No one would like getting covered with Coke, but all those souvenir packages generally come with lids and straws that have caps on them.
But, since most of these drinks are ice cubes, that part might become an issue if the lid did come off.

I would reprogram the computers on Iron Dragon, CCMR, and Corkscrew to be able to park a train in 1 attempt instead of 4-5 attempts.

If all the teenage girls in a group could get together and give all their flip flops to one person to take to the bins instead of all going to the bin to take off and put on their flip flops that would really speed things up. When we have loose articles one family member goes to the bin while the rest of us get strapped in, one family member retrieves from the bin while the rest of us stay out of the way.

Exactly systems can work, and they do work. Unfortunately the GP does not see these things, but ah well.

We're all ready to get rid of the bins because we hate them and they slow up operations and dispatches.

However, you have to take a look around at the park and notice how many people feel the need to bring backpacks and whatever else with them. Heck the park encourages people to carry around cups for refills which can't be put in a pocket.

Why not adapt to what people want and put up free lockers at every ride? Either at the entrance or somewhere in the line where people can put their stuff in and then get it out of the lockers upon exiting the ride.

At least, for now, the cheap and easy option to give people what they want is to have the bins. I don't personally understand having to carry around everything, but free lockers conveniently located would be pretty nice to have.

Rihard 2000's avatar

I've wanted Cedar Point to adopt that sort of free locker system since Universal Florida first introduced it. 30min wait for the ride? Then your first 60min of locker use is free. 1hr wait for a ride? Then your first 1.5hrs is free and so on.

Other practical coaster changes I'd like to see include Intimidator's soft vest restraints installed at Maverick and an Iron Horse makeover for Mean Streak (okay, so the practicality of Iron Horse on Mean Streak is debatable but I'd favor it).

I just remembered they have bins now. Whoops :) Back in 2011 when I went there, I know for sure they had the shelves I'm talking about.

I agree! The constant stop, air psshh, and go gets to be ridiculous. Or allow the ride ops to park the train manually like Gemini :)

Remove Corkscrews arbitrary and unnecessary seatbelts.

Amen. Get rid of all of them. Put your stuff in a locker. Someone please pass this on to the new park manager.

Yeah, because I really want to go sprinting halfway across the park to my over priced locker when I suddenly need the bag with my family's rain ponchos in it. If you want to save time at the bins forbid people from wearing flip flops and stop selling the giant refillable cups. That's probably 90% of what's in the bins.

Then leave all those articles with a non-rider. Get rid of the bins.

thedevariouseffect's avatar

They had bins in 2011 as well when I went there. Maybe something later in the season they changed, dunno

I think the stopping 4-5 times is done on purpose. If you don't have a train dead stopped in the ready brake the train can actually pick up some speed. I think it's all to be perfectly safe & not slip through into the next block. I could be wrong but was always my impression why it did

As much as I hate seatbelts as an enthusiast, as a ride op they're nice. Perfect gauge to see if you fit the restraint size or not, plus it adds more redundancy to the safety systems on the rides, and that I can't argue. To me this stuff really is a double edged sword.
