Challenge Park Project...??

Hey gang, after another great trip to the park, (this time with the family), I did my usual routine of talking to Guest Services on my way out and asked about the 2002 additions...

While they could not mention anything, or say when the press release would be out, they did say that SOMETHING NEW was coming to Challenge Park this year! The gentlemen also said that had only 30 DAYS to complete this project.

Does anybody have any idea/hints as to what this could be? I have no clue...thanks :)

mikey
Guest Services had better watch their mouths if they know what's good for them. THAT is the kind of stuff that gets upper management panties in a bunch.

It's some ride called a ejector seat. Built by S&S, it's another pay to ride ride, which means I'll look at it, but not ride it.
Is that one of the things where you sit in a two person seat on your back and you're launched straight up on huge bungee like things?

*still thinks the Power Tower is crap compared to the Demon Drop*
Nope... just Rip-Cord.

They should be putting in a Top Eliminator Drags. I mean, it is called Challenge Park - put in something challenging...!!!
Ejector seats are a lot of fun, having ridden the one in Orlando last year.

I thought I heard a while back about them adding a Master Blaster slide. The kind that shoots the water to make your raft actually go uphill. There is one at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Texas.

All rumors, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Yeah, there was a rumor about a year or so ago about a Master Blaster. It would definitely fit in at Soak City.

No land clearing that I've seen. And I am in Challenge Park AT LEAST 3 times a week.

They added the rock climbing wall in the middle of the season last year.
True, sky kicker, but this would be a MUCH larger project...

CONSTRUCTION HAS STARTED.
Today while walking by challenge park I saw them BREAK GROUND on this new ride. it is going between the Kiddie GoKart Track and Ripcord. They took out a few truck loads of concrete and dirt that they dug up. And they said this ride WILL BE IN OPERATION by the first of August
WOW!

Steuks!!

It's crazy.
I've never understood why they put the rock climb inside the park... not in CHALLENGE park!

Was at the park yesterday... it's going between the tracks and Ripcord.. It's a pretty small area. And yes.. they want it up by Aug 1st.

The S&S trucks came in Monday night..

-------------
MF 2000 - 269 laps
MF 2001 - 92 laps as of (6/28/01)
June 11th, 2001 - Gemini 100

So what is it? I didn't know S&S made those bungee-catapult things.
I was looking around Screamscape and I found a picture of the prototype of this S&S "Thrill Shot/Ejector Seat" ride, along with a short description of what it does...

http://www.screamscape.com/News___Rumors/North_America/Industry_News/industry_news.html

Scroll down to the "S&S news" section...

BTW after doing some research I found that it is not like the current "ejector seat" rides that are out there... this one uses the S&S compressed air technology to somehow launch the vehicle upwards. By the looks of it, you will be shot up sitting up, then at the top you will be inverted for a face-first dive to the ground! Sounds pretty cool, I just hope they don't overcharge...
