I doubt you'd see the looney tunes characters return because when Cedar Fair purchased Geauga Lake back, they had to change the name of their coasters because of Six Flags Copyright. Now if Cedar Fair bought the whole chain which I doubt would happen, then it would be up to Cedar Fair whether to keep the Six Flags theme or not. I can't see Cedar Fair buying their competitor, they're probably going to buy like maybe 9-10 parks off their hands. Cedar Fair doesn't have the money to pay off Six Flags, on top of that buy them. I'm with the first guy on this forum. Please Mr. Kinzel, don't make this move unless you are purchasing a few of Six Flags Parks. I'd like to see Darien Lake come back the way it was. I'd also like to see them take Six Flags New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina hit that park. I can also see them taking that one park in Houston.
Id say CF would want to pick up parks in areas they dont currently have parks near. I would also believe that SF is not going to give up its "flagship" parks, as they are its money makers.
Going by my guesses Id expect the following parks to remain SF parks:
Six Flags Great America
Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags Over Texas
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Id like to see CF buy Astroworld, so it doesnt get scrapped out. I dont care what company owns what park just so they dont have to close and the rides be thrown away. If possible, Six Flags America is a semi-big park with quite a few rides at it and would be interesting to see CF run it, wonder if SF would let that park our of their hands.

This is very interesting stuff...
...and according to the Blade article, Cedar Fair has the "wherewithal" to purchase the entire chain.
...analysts assume they could purchase certain parks.
I was thinking...the brand-name is basically what's so expensive...so if Cedar Fair did buy the entire chain, do you think they'd get rid of the "Six Flags" name?
(Now, I am just being "theoretical." I don't think CF should or will buy the entire chain, but what if they did...? Would they change the name, or no?)
Plus, I am thinking there could be something else happening entirely... Like, something we won't expect. Perhaps... an agreement between a purchasing entity and Cedar Fair? Like, a billion-dollar investment firm has the ABILITY to buy it, but lacks the KNOWLEDGE to run great parks. Cedar Fair CAN do that... so maybe we will see some sort of symbiotic agreement come out of this situation...
I believe they would certainly change the name, at least by dropping the Six Flags name.
And CF did not need to license LT from Six Flags.........it is Six Flags who licenses it from Warner, just the same as CF licenses Snoopy and gang from Charles Schulz estate.
In theory if Six Flags dissolved entirely, CF could opt to go with whichever characters were deemed more marketable, ie. would a Camp Snoopy or a Bug's Bunny World resonate more with kids today?
From where I sit, I do NOT want CF to buy ALL of SFI. In doing this they just did exactly what SF did in all the parks. They become copies. It is MUCH easier to manage/run a smaller company like CF has now. A few parks wouldn't hurt. MM and GAdv would be nice. It give them another west coast park and an East coast park. Plus with the way CF does things it could improve the parks greatly.
CF should keep the snoopy they already have and use. Switching to bugs bunny is just copying and pasting the Cedar Fair Incorparated logo over the Six Flags one at the bottom of the page. Take the snoopy. Spread it. and get some names other then the 5 or less superheros they use.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
SuperNitro, I like what you said, but I can see more parks staying with Six Flags. I can't think of any at the top of my head right now but I would think Six Flags would keep at least 15 parks. I mean how many do they have now? 25? If they get rid of like 10 parks they could probably still be helped out. I can't see the whole Six Flags being bought by Cedar Fair. Three of the major parks from Six Flags are getting something for 2006, so that would mess them up if this move was made.
As much as my 2 cents is worth, I think they should invest in Six Flags over Texas. It's a new market for them, but the park, as stated above, has perfect placement and a great assortment of rides. They could also buy Hurricane Harbor across the freeway, and turn it into another Soak City. It would be a pretty identical setup to Knott's out in CA.
I could see them trying to pick up Great America because of the closeness of the other parks (CP, MiA, WoF, VF all surround it) but it seems like they'd be taking on a lot more than they could handle with that.
As much as I would like to be able to use my pass to get into Magic Mountain, I think it would be very unwise for them to purchase that. That's way too big of a mess for them to take on right now. I mean lets be honest - it's taken them how long to make Geauga Lake somewhat decent? Magic Mountain is a lot bigger, and a whole different game (The LA market is definitely a lot different than the Cleveland market.)
Personally, I've only been to one SF park in my life. It was the one outside of Dallas and I remember it sucked big time!
But, there is something to be said for purchasing a few of the parks. CF seems to have a good history with rehabing poor parks--MiA,GL. Buy a few of the smaller parks and you could have a success in a few years.
They should just buy one park and put all of the "beloved" CP rides that are going away. Reject Park! Coming in 2006:Demon Drop and WWL.
I doubt White Water Landing will go to another park, knowing our luck it will be scrapped. I know thats being negative, but that's what happend to Mill Race.
I just can't see the CF having that kind of capital right now. They keep complaining about decreased attendance and lack of funds to do stuff around the various parks.
Somebody else mentioned what they got themselves into when they bought GL...I can't imagine them being in a solid enough position to buy even a few other parks right now. Especially SF parks. (Flame shield up)
as long as they decided to buy SFGAm, i would be happy...
that way, they would pretty much have a monopoly in the Midwest...except for HW and IB, of course...

Please do not do this, well you can take the parks that are not SF New England, Magic Mountain, Over Gerogia, Over Texas, and Most of all GADV! The other parks you can have, the only drag SFI down!
GADV+CP=Competition which equals great rides for both parks! S:TE was built then TTD and then SF was all like "Yo CP took our record" and gave GADV(me) Kingda Ka, and now look out CP'ers Magic Mountain has tied your coaster count!
But in the end i hope the companies stay sperate and nobodys buys parks! Competition is a good thing remember that!
I still say leave Six Flags alone. If Cedar Fair does make this move to buy the whole chain, they will pretty much become a monopoly over every park in the country. It would be like having a Walmart in every town that you live in, in which some cities won't allow one. Thats another topic though. In this situation there isn't an amusement park in every state. I would rather see the popular parks left alone such as Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Great America, and if Im missing any of the popular parks, reply to me.
Competition is always good. Even if you're the one not leading the way, there's always that wanting to be better. If you're already the "best" because there is no major competition, why make anything better or more reliable, or cheaper, or anything else Bill Gates already doesn't do? ;)

This sounds like we're talking about a fantasy football team.
We'll trade you... Knott's and... Dorney for Great America. ;)
Can we trade Meanstreak for X?
