I am throwing this out there because I can't stand by and be quiet any more.
Mr. Kinzel and CF: PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!! Please put the money into the other parks we already have! Get Dragster up and running consistently all season, improve the food services and quality, make the parks an overall better value without gouging the customer base. Stop focusing on record breaking rides and nickel and diming each and every department in the park.
I ask these things as someone who dearly loves CP and wants to love GL (although that isn't happening quite yet). Please, please, put more love into what we've got, make it better, and let the reputation that CP had in the past (customer service, quality rides, better than average food) rebuild into something even better. It's not about coaster or park counts.
Okay, I'm packing away my soap box now.
If they bought SFGA, they could take down KK and use it for spare parts ;)

They are going to do whatever they feel is best for the bottom line, and whatever makes the investors happy. Like the news report says they might take a small bite out of the parks Six Flags has, but aquire all of them and all that debt? Not in a million years, at least I would hope not. Besides I don't think that Cedar Fair could even afford to aquire the whole chain without a third party investor. It is my opinion if they did they would be taking a risk of ending up just in the same situation Six Flags is in, which is evedently not a good situation.

Six Flags shopping list:
SF Fiesta Texas, San Antonio Tx... very nice location, and is in my opinion the best park SF has!
SF Great Adventure, Jackson NJ... see Jason Hammond's post above^ lol...:)
All these, my opinion..;)
From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
Interesting! Could be the big leap into the very big time.
Or a very big leap into a debt ridden pit.
I say fix and improve what they already have before taking on more problems and challenges, many bigger than what they already can't seem to solve.

Actually, I don't think CF would want just one of the Texas parks, I would say take SFOT and Fiesta Texas. FT has a wonderful location with an opportunity for very unique coasters, which they already have a few of. And SFOT is in a wonderful location right in between two big cities, with an MLB ballpark right next door, not to mention the awesome rides that are already there. Both parks are jewels of the chain and are in better shape than most of the other parks. Where is Astroworld? Well, I don't know if I would want to have that park given the location, past crime instances, and other things, like very little expansion room.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I think buying a park or two wouldn't be to bad an idea. But I also think they need to be careful, as it seems to me that Six Flags got itself in [financial] trouble when they began buying every park they could find. *** Edited 10/11/2005 11:16:17 PM UTC by DBCP***

Ok, I get the whole "Buy low-sell high" thing. But that is generally advised when you should expect it to go up eventually. It seems like the amusement park industry is certainly hurting in our economy, and one has to wonder if it is really going to pick back up that much. Very... Risky... Business...

All amusement parks across the country are not hurting. The parks that have been building lots of roller coasters in the last few years have lower attendance than in the past. The parks that have been builing attractions that everyone can go on, such as PKI and Holiday World, have been doing very well the last few years. I think if Six Flags/Cedar Fair would realize this, they would have attendance pick up. Also, at least at Cedar Point, they over charge for everything.
I don't know that taking on the entire six flags chain at once would be a good idea, but buying some of the parks could be very beneficial to Cedar Fair. If Cedar Fair were to buy some of the Six Flags parks, I would like to see the Loony Tunes characters in some of the new parks.
