Cell phones/service

I have used phonecards and never had a problem. Once in a while when I couldn't get a line out I used the phone card on a payphone and had to give up like 5-10 mins, but you can get really good cards. The best card I have found is at a Sam's Club. They have great AT&T prepaid phone cards and 1000 mins are like 35 bucks...plus you can recharge them with a check or credit card.
Is it better to buy a contract cell phone, or just get a pre-paid one?

VoiceStream has to be in Ohio. I hear ads for it all the time on the Toledo radio station. Why would they advertise something that isn't available??

Is VoiceStream in Michigan? They might have some coverage in the Northwestern Corner of Ohio.

Voicestream may not use that name in Ohio, but the company does have towers they use. I have voicestream and got perfect reception anywhere in Sandusky. My phone said Aerial most of the time when i used it. Nice part about voicestream is that all the plans are national plans meaning you never have to worry about long distance and roaming. Only problem i had is that they quit working in the rural regions.. If you're only going to use in Sandusky, or another similar sized or larger city, you're fine.

I have the Free-up phone from Verizon and I have not had any problems yet... it has actually been better then the contract phone I used to have with them a few months ago. I like not having a bill due and so on cause I want to stay debt free for as long as I can. It's funny though cause when I have a Verizon contract phone, I had a lot of dropped calls and when I got the Pre-paid Verizon phone I haven't had any dropped calls. Plus with the pre-paid phone if I didn't like the service I can just stop buying phone cards unlike the contract one where I would have to pay a early termination fee.

I have cingular as my cell phone company. I never had any problems with them. I just activated nationwide servise on my phone, so it will cost me the same anywhere in the usa....not bad. I get 250 min a month + free nights and weekends......omg, I am starting to sound like a commercial...lol
