celebrities and CP

Maybe with gross percentages Jim Carey made $60 million. But the highest salery for a movie is about $30 million.

R.I.P. Aaliyah Dana Haughton, January 16,1979-August 25,2003.

I hope thats a typo. Because its kind of strange predicting someone's death.

The Jackson thing was for real. The rides crews that were going to be working were hand picked by management.

While it isn't "cheap" by any standard. Several companies have bought out the park for a day here and there in the past. No reason a celeberty, if they were willing to spend the cash, couldn't do the same thing.

The "Stone Cold" Steve Austin thing was totally legit. I saw him there, and I knew it was him cause at the time, i was really into to WWF. Im postive it was him, he was even wearing one of his own t-shirts, and had like 2 body guards, he was signing autographs and took cuts in front of me on MF. He went through the part where people go when they get the stamps to not wait in line.

Yes, celebrities do show up, and yes they get special treatment. They get escorted up the exit ramps by CP staff, pretty much for their safety. They get mobbed (even by staff) even when they come up the exit ramps. People getting off the train, or waiting for the next one often recognize them.

While I worked on Raptor, I saw a couple WWE stars, many college and pro sports stars (most played for Ohio or Indiana teams), Rob Lowe, Macy Gray, and a few I didnt' know.

On a side note, I waited in line behind Alan Cummings (Cabaret, Titus, Romy and Michelle, and most recently X-Men 2) for Batman at SFMM during Odyssey's yearly event. I was amazed to see him "out" in the park that night, and actually waiting in lines. I chatted a bit with him in line, he didnt' get bothered too much at that point, but only a handful of people actually knew who he was.

Does anyone know if celebrities are limited to one front of the line pass per ride? WWE wrestler Al Snow was at the park tonight (Friday). His group of about 8 were totally pumped to get their ride in on TTD. If they wanted to get back on would they be allowed to enter through the exit ramp again?

just a thought... but what happens if say... Britney Spears, or Madonna.. someone like that, wants to ride TTD or visit the park.. do they rent the park out to them? or set up special ride times for them.? I cant see them waiting in a 4 hr line to ride TTD. Im sure they can't come on a regular operating day.. they could... it would be crazy though..

Just out of curiosity, what fairly well known celebrities have visited Cedar Point? I searched the archives....

Well, in 2000 Rob Lowe was in the park and so was Eddie George. I tell ya, Eddie George was on Thunder Canyon and he is one big dude.

...Jim Carry gets $60 million for...

This seems to be causing more confusion than necessary. According to the May, 2003 issue of Premiere, Carrey's standard fee is $25 million per picture. He then will get millions more for merchandising, DVD sales, t.v. rights, and whatever else that can be thought up.

heres a question for you guys...

if a celebrity is at CP and they ride, oh say, MF...is their on-ride photo available for just anyone to buy (and leak to the media or sell on Ebay)?

or do they block it off the monitors like they do pics with peeps making obscene gestures??

just curious as this question is in desperate need of an answer on another list i am on...

Al Snow's picture was up on the monitor when he was there the other day. I was almost in the same picture but I was too far back on the train from were he sat.

Special treatment of Celebrities...

I'm a seasonal employee from Cedar Point. And I initially worked for Cedar Point in Hotel Breakers in Guest Accomidations. Eventually switched to one of the many departments of Park Operations. And unfortunately had to come home early this season for medical reasons.

But as for special treatment of celebrities. I would say it depends on their level of fame. The presidential suite in Breakers in clearly reserved for celebrities, major stock holders, and even friends or family of execuatives. Special ride access, I have seen myself, is sometimes allowed. So some poor celebrity doesn't create a riot with in a que line. Some celebrities I have seen even this year going for FreeWay passes. So they must not of gotten VIP treatment.

However I have heard "RHUMORS" that select bands wanting to stop in on the way to Cleveland or Detroit, literally being denied access for lack of security. Just imagine some of those boy bands inciting a riot at the entrance or resort gate as soon as they showed their faces.

Doesn't Longeberger (sp?) buy out the park the day before opening day just about every year? That would really be ERT
------------------
Admin- http://rollercoast.proboards16.com/
Yes Longeberger rents the park the day before CP opens to the public every year. I think they even have a standing contract with Cedar Faire to continue doing so for some time. The funding for such is probably quite expensive, especially in the fact most the employees from longebergers stay in the hotels for multiple nights.

As for ERT, if memmory serves me correct. (Which does fail me time to time.) Dragster was only up for like a couple hours.

The only type of celebrity I have seen was Big Chuck and Little John at the Laser Show a few years back.

Big Chuck and Little John are pimps here in Cleveland, I'd like to see any celebrity at Cedar Point, if had millins of bucks like them i'd drive there everyday, the 1/2 tank it takes to get there and back each day would be chump change + a season pass.... but i already got one of those, the gas and parking are the only things that drain my pockets
