Ok I wanted to mention the nasty conditions of Cedars and Gold. Anyone planning on coming to work this summer don't live there. I can just imagine if Cedars went up in flames. It would be toast. It's very cold there in May. COLD!!!!!! Very hot in summer. HOTT!!! It's funny how the better housing is located off point. The only true advantage of living on point is the location. That way you don't need to depend on the shuttle or by car crossing the busy causway. Just be ready for quite the experience for anyone living on point. My suggestions for anyone forced to live there this summer if nothing else is available. Shack up with some ladies at Commons or Bayside and live with them. The same goes for girls living at Gold. Simply go to Louies and your set.
Yet again another stellar post from Billybob...Wagonboy, 32, Hoov42...care to comment???
I knew many people, girls and guys, who didn't mind at all living in Gold and Cedars. Less commuting time and you won't have to worry about getting stuck in traffic, only 1 roommate in most cases I believe, rent is less...

Billy Bob, did you have an unfresh experience in the shower or somethin, Cedars isn't that bad. The conditions aren't stellar but when you consider that you aren't really there at all because of work and the social life, the goods outweigh the bads. I don't know how many times that living on point has saved my ass from getting pts for being late. My only advice for cedars is find people you know to room with and invest in air conditioning.
Living in Gold is only what you make of it. Sure, the rooms are incredibly tiny, no closet space, etc. But I looked at it this way: it's a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in (if I ever slept my first summer). My roommate and I actually made our room look pretty nice with carpet, posters, and stuff. All employee accommodations have their weak points, but IT'S CHEAP!! Where else can you live for 16.80-24.00 a week. Besides, if you don't like 16 roommates, most of the rooms on point are only double occupancy. Another point is: where else can you get up for work 5-10 minutes before your shift and still be on time?? I only moved off point because I wanted to live in the new dorm (1500 building was new in '98).

If you came to CP expecting the housing to be like your cozy little cabin in BFE your wrong.
I have lived in Cedars the last 2 years and believe it has many more advantages then living off point.
Your on break (those of you who get them) wouldnt you like to go to your room for a bit to rest? Or after work do you want to wait for the bus for an hour or go straight to your room and shower so you can enjoy the next 4 hours before you go to work? You hear lots of stories about the unfresh feeling that Billy has erected (no pun intended) for himself. But if you know when to shower, how to shower, and that there are always showers in the boat house, then you dont got anything to worry about.
Billy next year just ask ma to give you the key for the iron drawers and shower at the appropriate times.
Has anyone else ever thought about that fact that living in Commons apartments there are 16 people paying $24 a week for housing. Have you ever figured how much that actually comes to? Four weeks a month. Nearly $100 a month per person. Times sixteen people. $1600 a month for a crappy (albeit homey) apartment. Where's my jacuzzi?
The reason why the dorms in Golds are so tiny, is the fact they they were built in 1905. One part of the Cedars was built in 1901, and the other part of the part was built in 1915. The Cedar is actually two hotels. One was the White House Hotel built in 1901. Then in 1915 Cedar Point built more wings on to the White House, and renamed it the Cedars.
I agree Cedars is not all that bad, sure its tiny, and a bit musty at times (especially in the summer) but you don't have to wait for the bus, which is usually 10-15 mins late anyways, you don't have to get up an hour and half early just run to catch the next available bus, or suffer in saturday morning causeway traffic, and the employee beach is always just a short walk away for those bitten by the love bug. and you don't have to worry about getting the last running bus of the evening.
Becka, here here! I agree! (how many times have we had this conversation?)

I agree with Becka's jacuzzi idea! But think about all the damage in those apartments after the summer's over (not to count cleaning costs - I know ours was NASTY when I moved out). I bet the cost of doing just that is phenominally high. At least they're using some of that money to build us a rec center this year!!

Ewww, yeah...I had the opportunity to clean those aparetments and dorms in Bayside and Commons at the end of '98 (all because I didn't want to wait for my bonus check) and it was the worst thing that I have ever done at CP. Those ladies weren't the most pleasant people to work with, but after seeing what they had to deal with I completely understand why! Those rooms were horrible!
OK, I lived in cedars for 2 years.
My first year was cool, I lived in B-wing. My roomate and I were friends, and the 3rd roomate worked 16 hrs a day, he was very quiet, and always cleaned up.
My second year was better. I lived in F-wing, I had one roomate and he left about 2 weeks into May, he never processed out. So i had the entire room to myself. On top of that. I lived right next to a bathroom w/ a locking door and a shower. How cool is that?!?! The only bad part, hearing Wildcats' "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" at 9:00am and the train all day long. But it was sweet at night, I could listen to the "Summer Spectacular" and not miss a beat!
