I am presently right along the lakefront in Cleveland near one of the yacht clubs. The winds are 30K gusting to 40 out of the NE 050. It looks absolutely brutal on the lake, waves crashing over the breakwall.
With that said, a change in the direction and velocity can make a whale of a difference in the lake conditions, it may become quite favorable. Also, CP Marina is on the west side of the peninsula and protected by a breakwall so it is possible it isn't too bad there today. The docks north of Famous Daves look to be well protected from various wind conditions.
So thinking about doing Cedar Point for a half day on the 14th and noticed the best times for the ferry out of Sandusky for us would be 3:30 or 5:45... The dock looks to be about 15 minutes away from CP... Do you have to be at the ferry dock a certain amount of time before they leave?
If we are trying to make the 3:30, I think if we leave the park by 3:00 we should be okay?
The Port Clinton port has boats every 30 minutes which is much more flexible! Too bad though it's about a 40 min drive from CP....

You should be ok if you're in your car at 3pm with the engine running. But, I would make reservations/buy tickets in advance to make sure your time slot is not sold out.
Looks like on the website it says you buy the tickets at the window... Now you got me worried, hopefully they won't be sold out!

I doubt they will be sold out or even close to it. I watched the Jet Express come and go most of the morning yesterday (Sunday) and I didn't see more than about 15 people on the upper deck. I think you'll be fine.

Put-in-Bay can get wild but not every place on the island is like that. If you want a pool bar on the wilder side, go to Mist pool bar or Splash pool bar in the afternoon. A little more mellow but not much is the Sand Bar pool bar and Dizzy Lizard pool bar.
Some of the more active bars on the island are the Round House, the Boat House, Mojito Bay, Beer Barrel Saloon, Frosty Bar, Mr. Ed's and the Reel Bar.
If you want a more mellow time at Put-in-Bay go to The Keys, The Boardwalk, Dollar Winery, Heineman's Winery, Blue Luna, Rita's Cantina or Hooligan's.
Cool bars that are less mainstream and are local's favorites are Joe's Bar, Topsey Turvey Bar and Grill, Red Moon Speakeasy and Goat Soup and Whiskey.
Not to be missed for songs, comedy and fun: Mike "Mad Dog" Adams afternoons at the Round House and Ray Fogg evenings at the Reel Bar. Also great but more mellow, West Side Steve selected weekends at The Keys.
Best food probably at The Keys, The Boardwalk, Goat Soup and Whiskey and Holligan's.
This is just scratching the surface of places to go and things to do at Put-in-Bay. You can call it the Cedar Point for alcoholics. :)
I would be interested in hearing more about Put-n-Bay. Where to stay, cost, etc.... If you don't mind.
Your opinions about the park are normally spot on.

Hello again all! Sorry asking so any questions. So there is a ferry from CP to Put N Bay I saw. I'm assuming we could leave our car at CP for the weekend while at Put N Bay. Obviously not in the main lot but probably the marina lot or Breakers?
I would contact the park and ask them. You're liable to have flat tires if you leave your car in the marina lot. The people who are paying money for slips there get really cranky when they can't find a place to park when they are supposed to have their own 'private' lot to park. They started issuing Marina decals for cars to be legally parked there this year. In theory, if your car is there too long and you don't have the decal it is subject to towing at your expense. I'm not sure if they have actually done that or not this season. Regardless I'd call the park and see what they tell you to avoid any nasty surprises when you return.
