Cedar Point Woodie

I have heard a rumor from my friend that thinks Wicked Twister is on the chopping block. If that's the case, maybe they could place part of the classic cyclone in that footprint. Maybe have it go through Gatekeeper queue and out to the parking lot and back.

The Wicked Twister rumor has been around for months. Nothing has seemed to back it up since it initially started.

As for the Beast hate I don't get it. Very fun ride. Some enthusiasts only look for intensity and I don't get that either. Roller coasters are made to produce enjoyment. Different people enjoy different things. For example I find Intimidator 305 to be an extremely overrated coaster. But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy riding it. It produces enjoyment so it does its job.

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

I would be very surprised if Wicked Twister went anywhere. I could easily see Corkscrew, Mine Ride or Iron Dragon getting the axe before WT ever would.

Even if they wanted to make room for a new coaster, WT could be easily relocated.

Who knows though? WT hasn't even been painted since it opened and that was what, like 15 years ago? (oh my god I am old)

But there's no evidence that the WT rumor ISN'T true, either. Just like there is no evidence that aliens DIDN'T build the pyramids.

ROUNDABOUND.

Aliens built Wicked Twister? Didn't CGA overly the WT image for their future plans? I doubt it, but it's not completely out of the question.

Aliens probably not, but the national treasure maybe buried underneath Wicked Twister.

The Freemasons designed the street layout in Sandusky in the Masonic Logo. And I believe that Sandusky is the only city other than Washington DC to have this.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

Honestly, would it really be sacreligious to reproduce the track, remove the breaks, and add millennium flyer trains to Beast? It would be a huge improvement. If you truly want to ride Beast as it was (as a classic) I would think you would want that.

Getting back to CP talk though, I understand the draw to "forceless" coasters such as Valravn. I prefer intense rides with quick changes in force like maverick. I just wanna have that "holy crap" feeling. My GF however likes the "safe" yet intimidating feeling of Valravn.

I think some enthusiasts and the GP who only knows CP are spoiled. Valravn and Gatekeeper would be premier attractions at 90% of the rest of the world's amusement parks. But at Cedar Point it's "a little dissappointing."

The same thing would probably happen if Cedar Point built a 120 foot GCI that ranked as one of the best in the world. If you look at the comments on Facebook when KI announced mystic timbers, you would see all the comments bashing it for looking lame because it's not 200ft. I hope they do eventually build one.

With a drop track finale...

No one has giving BS (MS's father) any props on here. Always powerful every time I've ridden. A great wood would be better as Frontier town ride behind the footprints right of MS and out and back behind Gemini.

Adding Millennium Flyers to The Beast would eliminate the remaining excitement.

(Also, I don't like mill flyers..)

Ride The Voyage 25 times in a day and then ride The Beast the next day...The Beast is absolutely awful. Tedious amount of time getting to the top of the lift hill, trimmed to death, far too many flat, boring but headache inducing bouncy sections. WHY does the train on the brake run stop so far from the station? With as long as it takes to get to the lift hill, how do the 2 trains pass by each other. The Beast needs the same company to come in that fixed The Legend which made it go from an "I don't care if I ride it coaster" to a top 5 coaster for me. I'm not suggesting that they RMC it, but add some bunny hops and banked turns and eliminate those ridiculous trims. Use modern technology on it. Put a faster lift motor on the second hill, even. This ride may have been exciting in its day, but it's just God awful now. It's obvious that The Beast and Mean Streak were related. UGH!

The Beast has always had trims, they just used to be long skid brakes and have been updated to magnetic brakes. It also ran with more trains so the brake run needed to be able to stack several long trains.

The question is, how much would modernization improve the ride vs maintaining historic significance?

With Mystic Timbers right next door, any modernization would seem a bit redundant. They would serve a similar purpose for the lineup of rides in the park.

I don't think the Beast has ever run more than three trains. The reason the first lift is slow is because the train can't drop off the lift until the previous train drops off the second lift otherwise you'd have two trains in one block and that can't happen. Even if the first lift had a faster motor, it would just stop at the top.

As far as stopping so far back behind the station, I don't really know, but I suspect it's because it used to use skid brakes so it needed extra room to stop if it was wet or running fast. Blue streak is kind of the same way and seems like it could be tweaked to be more efficient, but it's an older ride and usually doesn't have a huge line so it probably just isn't a priority. They could probably bring the train closer with modern braking and controls on the Beast, but it's pretty easy to hit interval even as it is on that ride because it's so long.

There used to be a block brake between the two lifts, where the long flat shed is. It definitely ran more than 3 trains. At one point it was 4-bench cars.

There's still a brake in that shed.
The Beast never had 4 trains. Four bench cars, yes.

Still sucked then too I'd wager

#What'sInTheShed

Seems to me that King's Island has an affinity for brakes in sheds*.

*That said, that's less of a criticism and more of a fun jab at King's Island. ;)

^^Oh, oh yes it did. Go ride the Beast multiple times in a day, then go to CP the next day and jump on Blue Streak in the back car, they are incredibly different experiences. One is very thrilling and impressive. One is very...sad.

Regardless of how you feel about The Beast, Cedar Point will never get a woodie "like The Beast". I always chuckle when I hear people wish that. The land that ride sits on would take up half the peninsula, there would be no hills to take advantage of, and if you added up every tree at Cedar Point, they wouldn't account for half the trees in Beast's infield and surrounding areas. Never mind the fact that woodies today just aren't built like they were in the 70s. I LOVE the ride, but it's safe to say that whenever/if ever Cedar Point gets a new woodie, it won't resemble in any way shape or form The Beast.

Nor should it. The uniqueness of the Beast is exactly what makes it a great ride. It can't be replicated.

It would be like trying to remake Dirty Dancing for TV.

Oh, wait...
