Cedar Point smoke free!

"I cannot believe that smokers do not care that they are puppets for the tobacco Industry at the expense of their own health. NUTS people Just NUTS!"

Last time I checked no one was lighting that cigarette and putting it in my mouth but me. These lungs are mine and if I want to fill them with smoke and die 20 years earlier then it's my choice. not the tobacco industry's or anyone else.

"if someone's smoking in line and you see it, tell an employee about it if you can get their attention!"

Yes, do this. You're in a park line with hundreds of other people so don't worry about a confrontation. If a staff member does not do anything, make sure you complain to guest services with the emloyee name and tell an officer. Letting it go and complaining about here or on another message board will not do anything.

Another thing.. You know what is one of the most annoying things? Is when non-smokers make a gagging, coughing sound and wave their arms like their swatting flys. Dramatics are funny and do nothing to get the point across.. Walk away or ask politely for a smoker to move. I would have no problem if I was asked..

It's a pretty simple concept to follow. The courtesy should extend both ways. No one should have to cater to the other. *** Edited 3/25/2006 4:29:59 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***

Some people are allergic to smoke you know.

As far as asking a smoker to move? Right, I have yet to meet a smoker that thought he/she should be the one moving. For all of my encounters with smokers, no one has yet to be courteous to me.

Some people are allergic to smoke you know.

Then those people who are allergic should see the approaching smoker or that they are approaching a smoker and stay away, not stand there and complain. Really, if you do not have the power to make a decision like that, then you probably should not leave the house.

You just did.

See your a typical smoker. It is a fact that the tobacco industy puts chemicals into their product in order for you "Puppets" to get hooked. Famous last words. "I can stop when I want to" BullS---! Ask my Father. And yes it is EXTREMELY RUDE when you smokers let your smoke go into other people space. My space does not harm your space. Yours does harm me. It should never get to the point of you having to be ASKED to move. Common sense says you should make sure your not spreading your crap at anyone around you. PERIOD! Non-smokers should not have to swat air, or be expected to put up with your tobacco industry induced, chronic illness waiting to happen, smelly nicotine breathed, dark circled eyes, nasty skin selves! I am done here.

Sorry I take it personal as family dies from ignorance. You folks now have the info and your just plain STUPID! Don't take the rest of us down with you.

So if I am allergic to smoke, standing in line for pizza, and a smoker is coming to get in line behind me, I should leave? At a place like Cedar Point, smokers are everywhere. You might not notice because you smoke, but there are a lot. And for someone who might be allergic, its not that easy to just stay away. Its not up to someone that their allergic to smoke, they can't help that. *** Edited 3/25/2006 4:58:02 PM UTC by 99er***

No, you missed the point. First off, there is not smoking in ANY line at Cedar Point. So the smoker should leave... the park if they have a problem with it.

If it happens in another spot, politely as the smoker to move.

Smokers aren't rude, people in general are. It just happens that many people smoke. One doesn't notice polite smokers because they are being considerate of the people around them. It's like saying that all basketball enthusiasts are rude because kids who win the darn things at the midway games are being careless and obnoxious with their toy.

Smoking shouldn't be banned in an open air venue like CP.

I have to go on and make the following statement even though i know what's coming...

In fact there are many studies by credible doctors and the like that refute all "evidence" placed on the hazard of second hand smoke. If you don't want to do the research yourself get a copy of Penn & Teller's show "Bulls***!" (yes that is the name of the show)that airs on Showtime covering the topin of second hand smoke.

Gener, I agree, I am a smoker and ALWAYS try to be considerate to others. As you said you can't lump all smokers into one group. Should we ban all people between the ages of 13 and 21 from CP because a few of them poulute my airspace with their obnoxious way of speaking and acting, no I think not. There will always be certain people in any group who piss someone off, smokers included, but that does not mean we need to overeact and punish the whole group for the actions of a few.

First trip June 23rd

Here we go again... :(

And I don't think it's been that long. These threads never end well.
