Cedar Point smoke free!

In my opinion cedar point should be smoke free, any other comments on this?

I do feel that smoking does make some people uncomfortable but also a large portion of america smokes and this could hurt their bussiness. I am not a smoker. Maybe they could have certain desiginated smoking areas.

I hope this happends eventually.

I cant stand it when idiots smoke in lines...they do it all the time (especially MF).

Ya and that is actually not aloud if I remember correctly.

It sure would make it a lot easier on the sweeps!

(Remember, Kiddy Kingdom and Camp Snoopy are both smoke free if I'm not mistaken)

I think in an open air environement its not that big of a deal. I mean they don't allow smoking in the queues, or the children's areas so I think thats good enough. If you make the park smoke free then your basically forcing people to smoke in their cars.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Whey would they be forcing people to smoke in their cars? And besides, you think people that smoke don’t already smoke in their cars? That just doesn’t make any sense.

Holiday World is smoke free. They have a few designated smoking areas. But the whole park is smoke free. It was nice.

In the building I work at they have banned smoking, and your not even allowed to smoke outside the building, if any associate wants to smoke they must smoke in their cars. Thats where I got the idea from.

I understand now Frank. But it is their choice to smoke in the car. A company has every right to do that. More and more companies are doing this. One of the reasons is because of healthcare cost for employees who smoke.

Yeah let's make it even more like six flags. That is what it sounds like what alot of people are wanting. The only time smoking bothers me is when I'm in a restruant eating, and somebody starts smoking close by then it bothers me.But as long as we are outside in open air it isn't my place to whine about it.

Hey RJ, the first two lines of my first post support the current smoking policy in the park. That means outside of the children's areas and the queues you can smoke. Its fair to the smokers and the non smokers.

Wow, RJ's going to town on Sinatra for no reason at all, and making no sense while doing it. I believe that banning smoking from the park entirely would be a bit extreme, however, the idea is nice. My parents smoke, and whenever we go to the park they try to cut back. And, when they do have the urge to suck down toxins, they'll sit on a bench or stand to the side of the path, making sure that they're not around anyone. I think that if smokers came with a more courteous mindset, smoking wouldn't be a problem at all. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

You got me excited there for a moment... ;)

Smoking on the Midway is okay, as long as your not bothering people and being a jerk about it(blowing smoke in people's way)

If your on the Midway, either the smoker or non-smoker can move elsewhere... but in the queue is diffrent... when I was in Milly's queue last year, a dude and his girlfriend smoked right behind me and I was thinking, "That's gross, now they can die together in 20 years...", of course, being the nice canadian person I am, I put up with it, but it didn't really bother me all that much...

Point being, follow the rules because I don't want Cancer from other peoples stupid choices...

Now, if they were smoking weed... ;)

I was hoping this topic was news and not just a what if. It would be nice to see them smoke free except for a few designated areas. The trend seems to be that a lot of other parks are doing this. The only problem is the other parks I've been to with these policies have next to zero enforcement on them. Although I will give credit to the smokers in that probably upwards of 75% of them were following the rules and only smoking in the designated areas (based on what I witnessed).

As for arguing about the topic, it seems kind of pointless. Aside from a small minority on both sides who agree with the other side, it's always going to be what the smokers think the rules should be vs. what the non-smokers think.

I'm all for it. That's all I'm going to say because I can go on and on about this.

I thank all those courteous smokers out there, but for all you dumba$$es out there...I'm ending there.

It is nice that the queue lines are smoke free but I don't see a problem with smokers enjoying a cigarette outside on the Midway. Sure, sometimes I get a little bit of the smoker's smell coming from a cigarette, but I don't think it's enough to be a health problem.

Banning smoking outside is a little bit extreme. I don't smoke, but the smokers don't bother me when they are in the open air.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

if someone's smoking in line and you see it, tell an employee about it if you can get their attention! usually at the rides with the long lines there's a freeway employee who might not see that someone's smoking (people have learned to be very sneaky about it around employees).

that's one rule that i just LOVED to enforce...

I ABSOLUTELY agree that it should be smoke free. Because a lot of the smokers there do not refrain from smoking in line. Then it causes fights if you say anything. If it is such a "Family oriented trip" then it should be Smoke free as should ALL public builings including BARS. I personally get fed up with smokers who think we are taking away their rights. My father will be very sick someday from smoking in the past. He quit now. He now sees the light. Wake up people!

I cannot believe that smokers do not care that they are puppets for the tobacco Industry at the expense of their own health. NUTS people Just NUTS!

While I agree that smoking is dumb and it would be nice to have a smoke free environment anywhere I go, I don’t think Cedar Point would ever do this. It has never bothered me there, with the exception of in the lines, which is usually taken care of quickly. Some parks have started a smoking ban. Holiday World did it, and it was nice while I was there. The only down fall was the advertising to let people know it was smoke-free. There were signs everywhere. And I don’t mean small little signs that have a slash through a cigarette. I mean giant signs, banners, flags. Trying to do something like this with a park as large as Cedar Point would be hard. Imagine every other flag on the Cedar Point midways being a flag that said in giant letters “NO SMOKING”. That to me would be more tacky then smoking itself.

Not to mention the fact of having to try and enforce this rule. Cedar Point police and other employees have a hard enough time as it is dealing with day to day problems, including keeping people from smoking in the lines. Now tell them to watch every person that walks down the midway and tell them to stop smoking? Think about the amount of people you might see smoking on the midway while walking from Raptor to Power Tower, now think about how long it would take to tell everyone of those people to stop smoking. You would never make it to Power Tower.

It’s a good idea, until you think about the logistics of it. The policy they have now is fine.
