Hothitz, The Cedar Point sign at the radisson, in the last season it was up, was having mechanical problems, and was shorting out a lot. Sandusky construction officials all agreed it would not last much longer, so it was removed. What I cant tell you is what they will put in it's place, however if your interested, my opinion is they won't put something there, but there's always change.

It is quite odd that a major amusement park like CP does not have any sort of official sign on the main road other than "CEDAR POINT LEFT LANE".

I agree, I think they should replace the sign. A major park like CP should have more recognition then Cedar Point use US RT 250 or Rye Beach Road!!!
Maybe the lack of a sign is a testament to CP's popularity.
WHile I agree with ShiveringTim that it is "quite odd", I think you can sum it up with two points. One, as Joe mentions CP popularity...Two ROI...where is the pay out for a sign. If we make it to Sandusky we will be able to "find" the park.

It's not the best picture, but it's the only one I have:

Another reason that I take pictures of *everything* You never know when something might disappear :)

yeah but it is just something nice to see as you pull onto the Causeway. I mean if you want to talk about ROI, where is the ROI on Millennium Force's sign. Nothing, it is just something cool to see as you walk up to the world's greatest coaster!
Actually, they won an award for the Millennium Force sign...

Did anyone pass by the some government building in sandusky and see the MF logo in bushes?

Millennium Force - world's first and greatist gigacoaster!

Hugs.

I thought they got an IAAPA Brass Ring for it, but now I see on this site that it was a Millennium Force billboard. Let me re-check...

By time im close enough to the park and I can see the rides I start to go crazy and Im not paying atttention anymore to the signs. However the first time I went to Cedar Point that was the first thing I saw and I was dissapointed when they took it down.

"long live the causeway sign"
"look at all the gum on the wall"
even if there were electrical problems,it was still a sign.when people arive to the park in the morning,it is light out.

I think I remember reading that it had structural problems in addition to electrical problems. I think it was just rusting out.
I think it would be very good for Cedar Point to put an electric sign up on both sides of the Employee Crossover bridge..... on the way coming to CP it could flash different messages.... Welcome To Cedar Point..... Time..... Temp..... Funway Parking Fee $6.... Today the park is open until..... etc. On the way going.... thanks for Visiting Cedar Point...... Today's Park Attendance was..... (wouldn't be nice to know how many people you were in the park with.)

"Today's Park Attendance was"

THAT will never happen.

But I think you're right. While I don't think a sign on the corner of Rt 6 and the Causeway serves much of a purpose, a well placed somewhere close to First St would be nice. Maybe even arching over the road near the A-Frames?

Why do I keep picturing the WallyWorld sign? :)
