Cedar Point Shores

Just to point out a few very easily accessible drive up and walk in restroom options:
-SadCastle Suites, park under covered entry way walk in to clean air conditioned comfort.
-Lighthouse Point Pool, private large locking bathrooms parking 2 feet away.
-Lighthouse Point Restrooms north, large restrooms parking within 4 feet.
- Breakwater Cafe, for morning use parking very close by.
-Bay Harbor, evening use parking close by.
-Marina picnic shelters, not as clean or A/C parking not as close.
-CP Express hotel, good stop before get involved causeway hour long traffic jam.
-Dairy Queen, pre causeway choice.

Yes Brandon, the building where Subway inside the park is, by the old mini golf. The concrete path no longer leads to an entrance, landscaping is between the path and building and the former entrance is blocked off. But, there is not a CP Shores entrance close to that building anymore. The entrance (only one) is on the other side of Magnum from where the rest room building is.

So clarification.... Is the west bathhouse/changing area (near splash zone) still open? I walked by yesterday and the entrance to the mens room was blocked off, I did not walk to the opposite side of the building to see if the other door was open. I'm not too pleased with the restroom situation inside the park. There are two family changing rooms. One near the entrance, and another near the wave pool. A pain to try to get one, as they are often in use. If west bath house restroom is closed, the only other "regular" restroom available to use is the east bath house near the subway. I'm assuming crystal rock café has a restroom inside, I feel given the size of the waterpark there should be more restrooms available.

Right, but the entrance to CP is right there. Well, not as close as it was, but still plenty close enough.

It absolutely blows my mind that there's no bathroom near the resort entrance to CP. What a disappointing, boneheaded move.

That's a little annoying. Granted, it wasn't a full-sized restroom, but there was a small section available to use for the guests that were inside neither park.

Samurai, the west restroom (by the old west entrance) is open and available inside the park. It used to be outside the park but they moved the fence to make it an inside the park facility when they took out the west entrance.

I was at Shores Monday, and the other boneheaded move was making the new restrooms by the wave pool only two, one at a time restrooms. Just as I thought would occur, there was a line for each one 5 to 10 people deep throughout the day.

Probably the only complaint I have with the park is there's not a lot of Shores merchandise besides a tiny stand that sells towels and bags. They have other stores, but they're stocked with different brands and have nothing to do with the park itself.

I imagine the less changing area is for privacy rather than the old curtain changing areas that also had large open changing areas (which nobody ever used.) Still, they could have just kept the old ones and replaced the curtains with stall doors.

I'm feeling like CPS might have a "phase 2" expansion in the next 2-4 years that might solve some of these rough edges along with adding more headline attractions.

I did and so did my boys! If those stalls were full I just changed anyway. I grew up at the Y and there were never any changing stalls, neither in high school. Even my current community rec center doesn't have changing stalls. I could care less if someone wants to stare at my pizza a** while I get changed.

^The middle changing area? (A lot of people used the curtained stalls, just not the open middle area, usually because the curtain stalls usually had some open spots.)

I do know a few waterparks that have open changing areas. KI's does (or at least did a few years back, IDK if they survived the Soak City renovation), Worlds of Fun's did around ~2010 or so, and Kalahari in Sandusky does.

If so few bathrooms are available, there could be more pee in the pools.

No, there are MORE restrooms in the park, the discussion is about restrooms outside of the park.

TL;DR:

• The front (SplasH2O) restrooms are mostly unchanged but are now inside the waterpark.
• The middle restrooms are removed. The replacements are across the path, towards the entrance, and are a pair of single-user family restrooms.
• The back restrooms (closest to Breakers) have the changing areas removed, and were merged with the restrooms across the building (formerly outside the park) which are no longer accessible from outside the park. Thus, there is more toilet space and less changing space there.

Also, the new single user restrooms next to the wave pool.

So, like a permanent portapotty? Is this to head off discussion of 'gender appropriate' restroom usage? Unless they put in a dozen of these single user restrooms in each spot, how do they even come close to replacing a regular set of restrooms?

I would imagine they're "family restrooms" which are amazing for those of us with kids.

^Even better for those of us without kids. Usually they're clean and well air conditioned :P

The women's changing area at KI still has open areas, but they also have a lot of curtained changing areas so the open area is never really needed, even on busy days.

Doesn't anyone here use a locker room at a gym?

I hate changing in front of strangers. I think it comes from when I was bullied in school. So much "mean girl" behavior takes place in the locker room or bathroom. I prefer not to have an audience while I awkwardly pour myself into my swimsuit.
