Cedar Point Police

I was wondering how Cedar Point hires it's police officers? I was looking to apply.

You apply online, go through an interview, background check and are hired. Aside from a little more in-depth background check, its the same process as being hired in any other department at the park. It certainly is NOT like an actual Police department hiring process.

Actually, to my understanding, it depends on if you are a "bonded" officer or not. It is indeed a real police department with the ability to make arrests. They do have "non-bonded" officers as well that are more like security.
Your best bet would probably be to call and ask to be connected to the Police Department. I'm sure they can explain it all to you.
Officers, correct me if I'm wrong.

It is a real department but as I said, the application and hiring process is still pretty much the same. Still being a real police department though they do not have the same process as your local department would. That process can take up to 2 years to be hired and you have to go through countless interviews and review panels. The CPPD has the same interview process as the Foods department or even Rides with the exception of a more in-depth background check. Then of course if you are actually a OPOTA certified, there a few more steps are involved.

If you are just looking for a summer job in Security, apply online.

Thanks. I thought it was through Sandusky PD.

The Cedar Point Police Department is a actual fully functional Police Department, Cedar Point is the only Amusement Park in the world to that has an official police department with arrest powers. Our (bonded OPOTA officers) commission is through the city of Sandusky. In other words the bonded officers are sworen in as Sandusky Police Officers but are only responsible for Cedar Point and surrounding area and also wear a Cedar Point Police uniform, not a city of Sandusky uniform. Bonded officers provide vehicle patrols, bike patrol, undercover unit, and serve other branches of the department. Non-Bonds (security officers) respond to the same calls as the bonded officer does. Non-Bonds are extremely helpful to the bonded officer on-scenes on incidents and complaints. If you have any further questions regarding the CPPD send me a message. -J. Mac

Our non-bonded officers are actually listed as "auxilary officers" since they are employed by a police department which gives them more power and legal protection then just a security officer. You should know this j-mac but since you only have one season in I won't blame you for not knowing. Since Cedar Point labels our department both as police and security it gets a little fuzzy. Also several of our non-bonded officers are sworn in different states but come back down when they are not needed for their other departments.

Sadly you're way behind the eight ball and the roster is pretty much set. Yes our process is much quicker then other departments the interview is not very different then other police departments, which have a traditional timeline of 6 to 9 months, but I have seen firsthand departments that have done the whole process in 4 weeks each department has their own style and process.
