Cedar Point Old Rules

Not sure if it was PBR or not but I do remember it was COLD and you could usually find someone to buy your pitcher for you!

While the drinking age in the park was 21...Ohio at the time had a drinking age of 18 for 3.2% beer. This is what was offered at the Rec Center. Also every Thursday at the Employee Dance you could buy cans of beer for a buck.

Many, many many nights were spent sipping beers at the Rec. Many many many good times were had there. Until the summer of 83(?), may have been 82 ALL intramurals were held ON-POINT right at the rec center or beach behind Oceana. After the "competition" losers would buy the first round.

Now STOP making me feel old and go enjoy YOUR summer(s)...:)

I think my first evening at Cedar Point was spent at the Rec Center drinking PBR.

In any event new employees be sure to bring enough money to eat the first couple of weeks. I was not told this in 1980 and I would have listened. I bought 10 ears of corn and ten cans of chicken noodle soup. 10 days of food.....Needless to say I pigged out on my first payday.

Ingesting food at it's best.

Personally I was fond of the 20 cent poptarts. How much are they today?

i was at cp 85-87 and the rec center was a great time, still had the concert/dances in the ballroom when beer was served from the big metal drums for a buck. and you could take beer into the dorms or apts, except for wing "a" at cedars because that is where all the male "minors" 18 year old employees had to live. beer age in ohio was 19 at that time.

Back in the 1970's there was definite gender seperation on a lot of the rides. The Mine Ride was strickly all female, and most of them were school teachers. Kiddie Kingdom (it was called Kiddieland back then) was also all female, as was all of the carousels. Blue Streak, Jumbo Jet and Wildcat were all male. Shoot the Rapids and Mill Race were all male, as was the Skyride and the Frontier Lift. Space Spiral was all female. Western Cruise was all male. For the most part the rest of the rides had mixed crews, including the spectaculars such as the Giant Wheel, Schwabinchin, etc, as well as the aforementioned CP&LE crews.

Yea Mr. Scott. I remember going to some slimy store off of Perkins (?) and getting my food. I forgot to add the six pack of "generic beer" in black and white cans. It was my hometown Falstaff. It was terrible.

I remember "Generic Beer". It came out first when I was working in Party Stores.

Not good, but Drewry's and Blatz were worse.

Or Red White and Blue?

That one was really cheap and really bad, too.
