Cedar Point of Guinness wrong? or both right?

In one of the earlier concerning maXair someone said that this ride wont be breaking any world records. After i saw that i went to cedar point's website and found this:

"Named maXair, this new mega-thriller will give Cedar Point a total of 68 rides – which is more than any other place on the planet – and will be the centerpiece of a $10 million capital investment project for the park’s upcoming season. "

Unfortunately if you look on the guinness book website, it says Six Flags Great Adventure has the most with "a total of 71 different permanent mechanical rides."

So i was wondering. Does SFGA still have 71 or have some of them closed or whats the deal here??

People have tried to count the rides there and no one has ever gotten close to 71. Hell, half of them aren't running on any given day anyway.

That is so much crap, SFGA saying that they have 71 rides. SFGA does not put up all there ride's on there web site like CP does. Yah I've tryed to list all there ride's (SFGA), I can't come up with 68 or 71?

I dont think that that is a valid claim at all, Mostly because of the fact that the majority of them have large amounts of downtime.

Coaster Count: 147

SFGA also counts their water slides as rides as they are part of the main park and not a seperate admission price.

ive noticed, Six Flags string of parks are kinda ****ty if you ask me. they dont have the type of maintance people that CP has, and they just randomly build coasters anywhere to start a park. and i also find it to be an ugly site when you see new coasters being built on top of something else that six flags neglects to tear down. i just think the way that thier parks are run are dumb. ive only been to three- magic mountain, georgia, the one in NJ where kingda ka is being built- oh yea...wow im glad they are making that thing 5 mph faster, 1 in taller than TTD just to piss us off!

Yah Airtime25,

When SFMM bulit there little thing called Scream, It was bulit on top of there parking lot. They didn't even tar up that part of the lot(the assfult) to put in sand or gravel or even some grass. The main part of the ride is running along the pavement. I don't even call the KK shattering or even eating up records when it's only going to be 4 mph faster and 36 feet taller wow.

OK,

we had our time to bash SF when KK came out. Let's not turn this into an I hate Six Flags thread.

Yaeh no six flags bashing. I was jsut curious if they still have 71 or if thats the most they've had at one time. it saysw on the guinness website that the record was obtained in 1971

That 71 is probably the number of rides that has operated at Six Flags Great Adventure since 1971.

It doesn't really matter, does it? So what if a record book says something. Guinness isn't even hard to get into.

AKA Cobraroller on Cbuzz

I know what the "71 rides" means...

It is the collective number of rides given on all Six Flags properties...

...in the past decade.

I love lamp.

Ok I have to say This. When you think of a Park with Roller Coasters, you Think of Cedar Point! Right! When you say lets go to an amusement park, Whats usually the Number 1 answer, Cedar Point! I Love Cedar Point with all its rides Forget about Six Flags.

RIP MR.SCOTT The ONLY MAYOR OF LIGHTHOUSE

According to their site, they've got that 7 confused with a 4...add KK for next year and you get 42.

Guinness has the all time record for rides. Which is 71 in 1971. They have since closed down some of their rides, giving Cedar Point the record now with 68. Guinness is stating which park has ever had the most rides, where the record CP refers to is the current amount of most rides on the planet.

Ok thats what i kind athought but was unclear

That makes sense now. I wouldn't say all SF parks are dumpy, Great America is actually pretty clean and tidy, and has some cool rides.
