Cedar Point: July 12th! Awesome Day!!

So today was my 1st trip to the point in 2007, and boy was it great!!

Our group got there at about 11, and we arrived to a not-so-full parking lot. As we got in we headed for Raptor, with a 1hr. wait. It wasn't that bad of a wait, and we had the best ride of Raptor EVER!! I think the ORV's are sweet, but I wouldn't waste my money on one.

After Raptor, we scurried to Mantis, which was a 1hr. wait as well. I dont know about you, but I think it's a little too loud in the que line. The coaster makes the loudest and most annoying noise ever. I also saw the 3rd train of Mantis below the transfer tracks. Anyways, the wait wasn't bad, and this time around, I LOVED MANTIS!! It had awesome g forces, and air time.

When we were done with Mantis, we headed for Coasters for lunch. It was good, but a bit slow and pricy.

After Lunch we hit up Magnum XL-200! We only waited 5 min. to get on!! The station was actually organized today too lol. Today I thought the ride was very smooth, and very fun!

After maggie, we went to Gemini for a quick race. We only waited about 2 mins! It was a great ride as always, but very rough.(back seat)

After Gemini we walked on Mean Streak for a SUPER ride! I thought it was rough, but still enjoyable. A great view of the park, and we saw a big rain cloud coming, so after this we headed back to the dragster midway.

After we looped around the dragster /mantis/millenium island thing, we hit up maverick!!

When we got to Maverick, the wait said 1 1/2 hrs., and that's what it was, dead on! It barely sprinkled for less than a minute and they shut it down, and cycled tons of empty trains through. It was annoying, but a good safety precaution (mag. incident) Anyways, I got the gold train, 4th row, and it was AMAZING!! I LOVED the launch in the tunnel; It's very spontaneous. Maverick is my new #1 coaster, seriously!

We also did Millie, but nothing realy special to write about it. 2 hr wait.

Notes about the day

-TTD had short waits all day (1/2 hr-1 hr!)

-TTD broke down around 5:30 and was still not running at 8 when we left.

-Employees shipped out trains like no other today. Especially the Raptor crew. Maverick did a great job as well, despite being the longest line in the park!

-Best trip to CP yet!! I loved it, and I loved the addition of Maverick!!

Wow, those lines seemed pretty odd. Magnum 2 minutes and MF 2 hours? Usually they balance out a bit more. Nice TR!

Thrills Around the Corner!

I was there yesterday too (Thursday, the 12th) and aslo noticed odd waits for lines. I've yet to be at CP and have more than an hour wait for Raptor and yet walk on Blue Streak and Gemini. Magnum's line got longer than usual with a 30 minute wait, which isn't bad. I guess we get spoiled by walk-ons for that one. It was just very odd that some of the lines were very long and others were not. The park did not begin to clear out at all like it usually does around evening. Some lines were actually longer after 7:00. Iron Dragon had a 30 minute wait when we walked by before leaving at 8:00.

It was still a good trip we got 10 rides on the best rides in the park (minus Dragster, which was down by the time we got around to it. I knew when they finally emptied the station of all people, that it wouldn't be back up any time soon).

I usually get more than one ride in on Millie, but the people I was with were ready to go and didn't want to wait another hour to ride it, so we left. We still rode:

Gemini twice (5 minute wait, then a walk-on)

Maverick (1 1/2 hour-I love this ride more each time I ride it, but I miss the mist)

Wicked Twister (10 minute wait, also a ride that has had to grow on me, but I like it now)

MaxAir (30 minute wait, still not sure about this ride, I don't usually feel sick but this one gets me everytime)

Blue Streak (walk on-just a fun ride)

Millie (1 1/4 hour-good ride, just felt a little slower for some reason)

Skyhawk (15 minute wait-great air time)

Magnum (30 minute wait-felt so much slower than normal, but still really good)

Power Tower- (5 minute wait for red, 10 minute for green-I like the green side better)

Not bad since we didn't get to the park until noon and left at 8. I missed Raptor, but I guess I'll catch it next time. The weather was nearly perfect as well, the wind could have died down a bit so that Sky Ride would open and save some walking, but that's the only weather complaint.

^ I haven't been following the play by play, but that's the first I've read about Maverick's tunnel mist being off again. That's disappointing. I really hope they will figure out how to make it work, it sounds like an awesome feature.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

It was on when I rode it on July 12th (yesterday).

I also got wet from the water bombs:)

I rode Maverick twice yesterday and I did not feel any mist. TTD was closed yesterday evening because of high winds. I was on Power Tower while TTD was closed and the wind was blowing pretty hard at the top.

What time did you ride it? I rode it around 2:00. The thing is, it had gone down for mechanical reasons right before we got in line at 1. Maybe that had something to do with it. I can see that if a train got stuck in the tunnel the mist would be a big pain. They had it pretty thick in there during the Joe Cool ERT. It's really noticeble when it's not there now that I've ridden it with the mist.

I rode it twice that day, around 1:30 (was in line during that brief shutdown) and at 10:30 at night. Neither time did I feel any mist. :(

It ain't easy being cheesy but at least roller coasters don't make me queasy.

^You wouldn't feel the mist as much as you'd see it. When the mist is working in the tunnel, it has a disorienting effect so that you can't really tell where the end of the tunnel is until you go past the lights and are back out over the pond.
