I was just wondering if any of you have ever suffered any injuries at Cedar Point.
I haven't. But yesterday, when I went to log on to pointbuzz, I accidentally knocked the keyboard off the slide-tray, and when I bent over to pick it up, my back started to hurt BAD....this morning, it was so bad I went to urgent care. I was diagnosed with a lumbar strain with possible herniated disc. And now I'm on physical therapy for 3 weeks.
Thanks Pointbuzz! I needed a few days off work!

Well, I know some people got involuntary piercings a few years ago.
And I think there were some minor injuries on Magnum last year.
There have been some over the years, mostly due to rider's who shouldn't have been riding (health problems) or who were acting stupidly.

Back in 1981, I was shoveling coal into Albert when a hot piece of coal dust came flying back into my eye. Had to go see an eye specialist in Sandusky. Was off work for a day with a patch over my eye.

Magnum has left its mark on my legs before (which is what happens when you go on 10 trimless rides without getting off :)). Also Mean Streak has, um, "lingered" in my back a few times too. Other then that though no injuries to report.
Does Pointbuzz offer "member's compensation"..? LOL........just kidding!

I haven't had any injuries at the park, just some minor ones. Once while riding Dragster, I must have been leaning too far foward but once it started going up the hill, I got stuck in that position leaning foward for a few seconds, hurting my back a little. But that was pretty much all.. other than Mean Streak giving me headaches all the time!

^This is why I'm planning on only riding Mean Streak once, just to get the credit (yep, I'm an enthusiast)... I've heard it's just as bad as Psyclone was.
Back on topic, I cut my leg open on one of those ladder games at GL once, but that's the extent of injuries at theme parks (I haven't been to CP since I was four so I can't comment on that).

Not at Cedar Point but at Valleyfair once a LONG time ago when they first had their Halloween Haunt thing...
I was very little and me and my family went into the haunted house located inside where the bumper cars normally are, and the first "set" was some guy facing a wall, and all of a sudden he turned around really fast and screamed and whipped a chain onto the table. The following part was small church that you had to go through. They have you about 7 isles to choose from, all with "monsters" in them. Some real people, some fake. I was too scared and left with my dad.
When we got out my dad noticed a fairly large red slash mark on my face that started to bleed (not really bad, but it went over my eye). We guessed it was from the guy with the chain or maybe something on the table flew up and hit me. We never told the park about, which I think my parents should have done to prevent someone else from getting hurt.
Last year I went in the same haunted house and there no guy with a chain. =)

Maverick OTSR's clicking down too far and than your waiting to get unloaded meanwhile your legs are screaming in pain while your as anxious to get out of the ride as you were to get in the ride.
Magnum and the last bumps are a bit rough in the third row also.
I have never been hurt to the point where I am like okay doctor please. But I have to admit I try and leave just a little space.
My eyes have been injured by seeing the ensembles of some of the larger members of the fairer sex! I would rather stare at the sun then look at that stuff.
Before I started working at the park I was on the bumper cars and I got hit and a bolt inside the car went into my shin, I still have the scar from it and refuse to ride bumper cars.I ended up getting a huge stack of the passes to go up the exit/freeway at the rides :-)

i hurt myself last year in soak city and it was totally my fault because of not paying attention. while going up the stairs at eerie falls, my foot didn't hit the next stair, just my big toe and bent it back quite a bit. i called myself a big nob and hobbled around soak city/cedar point the rest of the day. needless to say, i pay more attention when i'm on stairs.

Mean Streak is the only roller coaster I have actually received visible bruises from. And, a friend of mine actually got a cracked rib riding it.

The only injuries that I heard of made the news last summer regarding the Magnum. One train hit another one because the track was too wet, it made headlines in the Detroit News and online.
Actually, the track being wet had nothing to do with it.
And nearly 20 years of safe operation including rainy days didn't faze the lawyers in passing a new "policy". But that's for another thread.

Well, that's what the newspaper said what happened. I guess I shouldn't believe everything I read. They never did say what actually took place that day.
Well, the brake calipers didn't grab enough and the train was able to slide through. From what I gathered here, that was a two-fold problem. 1 - the brakes hadn't been drained completely (moisture builds up inside) so they didn't reach their full stopping capacity and that combined with 2 - the rain making the braking surfaces slick, caused the train to slide through.
I'm not sure how much to believe (and I don't feel like doing the search through the forums for the details) but the problem didn't have much to do with the rain.

Thanks for explaining what happened Jugga. I knew the Magnum was down all weekend for investigation when it happened, sounds like it was a malfunction with the braking system and nobody's fault. Was glad to hear nobody was seriously injured too.
>I have pinched my fingers on the Wave Swinger while
setting down the bar that the seat belt connects to.
>Mean Streak, I loose a left rear rib on almost every
ride. (forward/backward shifting of the cars slams my
back), I have gotten some good rides recently though.
> Maverick's, seat belt bolt, lined up with the center
of my chest, I commented on here, and at the park, about
that and cedar point turned the bolt around so the smooth
head was against my chest, now no more chest injuries
from that.
> Magnum leg pain from the 3rd bunny hill.
> Soak City Wave Pool, Lifted me up on a inner tube,
I came down and landed on my right knee, I still have
the scar from that.
>That's all I can think of in 10 minutes..
So you get a little hurt while having fun... :)
GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.
