Cedar Point Hiring Situation

Hello everyone! I have plans to apply at Cedar Point when I turn 18, which is next July. But I do have a few questions because I will need available housing.

1 - Would Cedar Point hire for just August/September/October? I would prefer the ride host or sweep position, but would choose food service as an alternative.

2 - How's the housing situation during those months? Would they be able to find me an open position in the dorms/apartments?

3 - How are the hours during halloweekends? I would hope to work as much as possible knowing the park is only open three days.

4 - Do I send in the application early, as in January to May? Or should I wait until July?

Thanks for the help. I would want to work the entire 2013 season but I can't due to my location and being under 18 the first half.

I personally think your best bet would be to apply early in the hiring season. I'm not a hiring manager, but I don't think the August/September/October thing would be that big of an issue just because staffing at those times gets extremely rough because of people leaving to go back to school.

I'm almost 100% certain that you'll easily be able to find a spot in housing.

During HalloWeekends, it would really depend on your work location. I work at an early entry ride, so Fridays I work 6pm-1am, Saturdays 9am-1am and Sundays 10am-10pm.

Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

You say you will be under 18 for the first half...I am going to assume that you will be graduating high school end of May or early June correct? You can live in housing and work at CP as long as you have graduated high school even if you are under 18.

GO IRISH!!

Thanks for the reply. I live north of Detroit (Michigan). You probably won't recognize the city, but it's Macomb county. It's about 3 hours away from the park.

SteveDePoy-

Yes, you are correct. I will be graduating high school at the end of May. Thanks for that information, I was made aware you had to be 18 regardless of high school graduation. I guess I could look into that although it may be rough to process in early June.

Hey Ryan, I'm in Macomb County, too. Richmond to be exact! I worked at the park in 2002 and would HIGHLY recommend it.

Ryan, I have worked at Cedar Point as a Ride Host for the past 2 summers; (2011 & 2012). If you have any more questions between now and May/June, please e-mail me at: jp312210@ohio.edu or text me at (740) 680-3125, and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can. I'm going back for Season3 this coming summer, and am hoping to be the Assistant Team Leader of Mean Streak. Hope to hear from you, and if you get hired as a Ride Host for Area3, hopefully you will be on my Crew!!

I lived pretty close to Macomb county (Wayne) and Cedar Point starts processing applications as early as the end of December based on the Division and Department of course.
