Cedar Point Games

My favorite game is the bowler roller that many call impossible. It is very easy after a little practice. My last visit to CP (Coastermania) I walked away with 2 medium sized prizes for a total of $2. At 50c a shot, I barely missed the first two in a row, and made the next two consecutive. One went to my boss (a female) for giving me the day off to go to CoasterMania, and the other went to my Grandmother. I used to think it was hard as well, but after a while of playing it, you see how easy it is. I am single, and have taken many females to CP over the years, and they all walk out with a stuffed animal at very little cost to me.

CP's arcade is also great. I am in my late 30's and grew up playing a lot of the older arcade games in the back. Aside from playing the ones I own at home, I always go drop a few bucks in some of the games at CP. My only regret is the condition a lot of them are in. I wished they maintained these better, as some are in pretty sad shape, and have had "Out of Order" signs on them from most of the year(s).

I played the bowling game twice the other night, but couldn't get it. I almost got it once,but it just missed the hill. I did win two mini basketballs at the stand by MF. :) OSU and Michigan, because they didn't have ND.

Do they still have the "Guess My Age/Weight" Game? (I don't know why I asked. The spare tire around my midsection would be a dead giveaway for the age part...)

they still have that in a few places around the park.. i think it is 3 or 5 dollars to paly though.. and if you win you get a 50 cent prize,,,, everytime i walk by those gmaes no one is hardly ever playing so i would look for those to continue to thin out through out the park

I'm a sucker for the vintage pin ball and archade games. Maybe dating myself - but I remember when some of those games were new with the Demon Drop!!

I'm not much for the ball in a tilted wooden wash bucket or the electric turning abstact w/ electric wand....is it really possble to win on that game?

Idk, I always ask the person who is working the game for tips or ideas. If they are nice, they'll tell you. :)

I have a friend that is very good at amusement park games. He's not much of a rides person, but at the end of the day he'll literally go home with trashbags full of prizes.

My fiancee' and I play skeeball and after we get a couple dozen stuffed animals, we hand them out to lil' kids who look like they might not get anything from Cedar Point but a memory. So, this way they will have something to associate that memory with! You should see the smiles on their faces! What a wonderful feeling!!!

Believe it or not, this game IS WINNABLE! I actually have some tips in a booklet that I wrote on amusement park games.

A funny but educational point.

I had the chance to get my hands on the game with the electricity off -meaning that the wire was not twirling. I gently put the horizontal flat part (the part that leads to the bottom, usually the hardest part to navigate) and gently placed it in the '7 o'clock' position. EVEN WITH THE DARN THING NOT MOVING, I STILL MANAGED TO TOUCH THE WIRE GOING TO THE BOTTOM! (It didn't go off since it was unplugged, but I was using the honor system -monitoring myself.)

Now, I could have thought either one of these things:
A.Man, do I suck at this game!
B. This is an ingenious game! Can I glean any info from this?

If you can talk and chew gum at the same time, which is 99% of the population, the answer is B! That's how I wound up mastering this game! It got to the point where my wife pretty much banned me from bringing stuffed animals into the house! Hopefully, the information in my book can help everyone win at that game!

My daughter(16) loves amusement park basketball games. I'm better with the cranes. I worked at a balloon game at a carnival once while in High school('77). Guy had to take a b-room break so he paid me five bucks for half an hour. Darts games are easy to win. Just have to aim for the smaller,shinier ones. I haven't played skee ball in YEARS. Looking forward to doing that at Cedar. July 6th can't get here soon enough!

I recall when the guess your weight/age/birthday game was 50 cents and they had 6 of them around the park. The prizes included tiffany styled Cedar Point glasses, so I hit every one and won myself a set of glasses.

Now at $5 a pop, I only play when I see a prize I want, and lately haven't seen anything worth dropping $5 for. I understand that game in particular likely produces a lot more winners.

Personally, paying $1-2 a pop for a game is more than I want to spend, so I limit my game playing to the arcade where I can drop $5 worth of quarters and have a much better time. I have no need for stuffed toys anymore, and as someone else said, it's a pain to carry them around or to have to go back out to the car to dump them.

question for the enlightened ones...

what was fascination? i saw some pictures of it from the outside just recently and i'm curious as to what it was.

It was a game. I never played it, but several long timers here have.

I think you had to have balls to play it.

that could mean an assortment of things but i'm going to assume that balls were involved in the game, just like water is going to be involved in P2007?

The only game I play is break a plate. Anyone who can throw a ball straight can win. Although I dont play as much since they raised the price.

Fascination seems like a fun game. why is it slowly dying out?

I recall hearing that it was becoming hard to get parts for the machines and what not.
