Speaking of fresh produce, where have the cotton candy carts disappeared to?
We thought this exact same thing the other day. There used to be one on Frontier Trail just as you come out of the tunnel under MF (across from CJ's) and it's gone. The only one I saw was right up by the front gate....although this was on a Tuesday so it may have had something to do with that. *** Edited 5/25/2006 4:14:52 PM UTC by Loopy***
I think they need more coffee. (Sit down resturants aside) the only place they sell coffee is at the front of the park. It sucks. Every couple of feet you walk you can get pop, but only one place sells coffee. I'm a serious coffee-holic. And, being all the way back at Mean Streak about 3pm, I'm dying for coffee and have a mean caffeine withdrawal headache. On our way back all the way to front of the park, my daughter insists on riding every single ride on the way. Even if they just had coffee smoothie type things at some of the places where they have pop would be nice. Or Frappachino in the pop machines.
Nothing is more priceless than seeing the face of my 9 year old daughter the first time she ever rode a big roller coaster.
To avoid caffeine-withdrawal headaches, bring along a bottle of Excedrin Migraine. It has enough caffeine in a dose (2 tablets) to get rid of that nasty headache.
But, yeah, I also wish they had a couple of coffee shops in the park. Frontier Town could surely use one, in my opinion.

When I was at the park Monday, The Fruit cart had Grapes and Watermelon. If I remember right the cost was $3.50.
I tried to get the fruit cup for my side dish at lunch and the lady in the back said they didn't have any. I wonder if the signs got ahead of availability. The other choice I noticed was cole slaw. I think offering choices other than french fries as your side dish is a great idea.
I don't remember seeing any of the cotton candy carts on monday. I got my 1 stick at the regular counter service on the main midway.

More and more fast food restaurants are offering alternative side dishes as well, so perhaps CP is trying to "keep up with the Joneses" as it were.
The more fresh fruit options, the better...that is my 2 cents worth!! :) Hooray for grapes, watermelon, honeydew, bananas (sans chocolate & nuts), etc.
if i have anything to do with it, the healthy food will stay. nothing sounds better than a fresh watery slice of watermelon on a hot day at cp!
How about a fresh fruit cup followed by a cone of Toft's chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream? YUMM! And if any of you see Tiffany at the Ice Cream Parlor this summer, tell her you have been informed that Superman is French.
The problem is that most people don't go to the park but once a year and when you do it's time to load up on the crap.
Besides we live in the midwest where people love the southern comfort food and that old blue collar meat and potatoes.
Places like CP and GLP and the zoo have never been able to make any real money on things like fruit and grilled chicken. Heck even in the real retail food service world most healthy concepts tank in a year or two. The closest we have is Subway; which for most is a healthy illusion.
Really it's not the fried food and red meat that is killing Americans and making them fat. It's the quality of food and the lifstyle we live.

there are many stands that sell coffee just to let you know sunbutterfly80......i know that in that back of the park, stockade, frontier inn and pretzel filllers sell it
charlie brown's cookout is now offering salads--a chicken and oriental and two wraps so they are trying to be a bit healthy for those that are trying to watch what they eat

I like the idea of fresh fruit at the park... Seeing that I always end up buying a Pepper Jack Cheese-On-A-Stick when Im there... But isnt that a bit pricey for fruit?
Is it a big bowl of fruit? Im thinking of the fruit bowls that are sold in the Employee Cafeteria and thinking it may be those...
If the ones sold on the midway are the ones Im thinking of... Well, lets just say there is a significant price mark-up on them.

I had a corn dog ("Hot Dog on a Stick") last weekend and almost puked. That was the greasest thing I think I have ever ate (for $4.00).
I'll stick to the cabin/cottage food from now on.

Yeah, its pretty nasty... It always sounds good, and then I immediately regret it...
No LHP food for me...
I hear that stuff has outrageous taxes on it ;)
