I'm working on it, Jeeze!!
The Coasters regardless of count still favors Cedar Point becasue the rides are better there.  I would prefer good quality over smaller rides.
Actually the coolest thing the point could do is not add a new coaster in 2002 but instead add a non-coaster attraction.

It'd help re-enforce the idea that a collection of great rides makes an enjoyable day regardless of the number of coasters a park has and that being able to add the tagline "most coasters at any park" really doesn't mean anything.

It was never the reason I loved going to Cedar Point and it won't stop me from enjoying future trips.

The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they'll be when you kill them.

Hey, what happened to everyone's favorite CP tag line, "14, 'nuff said." Seems like suddenly coaster count no longer matters to CP'ers now that the crown is in jeopardy.

Only 2290½ miles from Cedar Po!nt

The park always used that as a marketing ploy, and who can blame them. If you have it, use it.

I don't recall the fans ever getting all that excited about the total numer, outside of the same kiddies who are upset about it now.

If anyone wants to get technical about it, then as already mentioned, S:TE may or may not be a coaster, and X still hasn't opened to the public yet. It appears that it may not open for a while either. They've been having problems with the trains and weight loads...

Coaster count was never a big deal to me, I mean seriously Cedar Point is not even my favorite park (ahhhhhhhhh blasphemy!) and my favorite coasters aren't there.  I went there for years and worked there for years because of the atmosphere, and the first-class operations.  This season will probably have been my last one working there, and not to say I didn't enjoy my time there, but it's about time to move on for me.  And I'd wager to bet that most of the people who post on this board who are those who like to call themselves "Po!nters" don't give two about the numbers and never did.  They go to the park because it's close to them and because they love the atmosphere.

I think the Cedar Point fans got excited about the record b/c Dick Kinzel got excited about the record.  I remember him, on more than 1 occassion, saying he intended to keep the record.
Now, nobody could have assumed, event back in the mid-90's, that parks would start building multiple coasters in a single year.  From my opinion, the jury is still out as to whether or not that is a good idea.
I think the trouble Six Flags has had at many of its parks in getting multiple rides running by opening day leaves it up for debate.  That says nothing of the quality of coaster going up which is a whole other story.

SFMM is my 2nd home park (SDMW being my 1st) and I could honestly care less about the record.  It just means more crouds, and a few of MM's rides aren't aquipped for LONG lines.  Besides, I went to CP this summer for the first time, and it truely is better than MM.  I just love how it feels like it's own little city!
