Has anyone ridden the roller coaster simulators that are in the arcade?? I wanted to try one, but everytime I go to CP the are OUT OF ORDER. If you have tried them out, are they worth the $2 And when will they be WORKING????

I tried one, and I wasn't all that impressed. I'm sure they would be great in the long off season though.
I never noticed it until this year...Probably will eventually try it.

They just got them this year, but I havn't seen them working YET!
Yeah, we've got one at an arcace relativley close to where I live... you don't know how thankful I am com mid-January to see that thing....
And the best part, is that the one by me has 6 (count 'em 6) coasters, from Cedar Point. It's the only way I got through the off-season.

Are they at the park? I'm asking because Intamin2K said that he rode them in the off-season. ???
I thought it was hilarious that the actual Cedar Point park would also have the simulators of its own coasters. :) There is a coaster simulator down here (FL) I saw some months ago, but I haven't had the chance to check it out and I don't know if it is the CP coaster one. Since I won't get to any big parks this year, I'll have to go find out! :)

I remember one year going to Cedar Point and the virtual game on display was Duke Nukem 3D that appeared to be nothing but a port of the PC title of the same name. If thats anywhere NEAR 3-D please let me know!

They are NOT worth $2!!! They are just the POV videos that are on the official site but the seat goes up and down with it! I suppose they are good for people scared to ride and want to see what the coaster does or something!

"Where da party at?! Girls is on da way, where da BACARDI at?!!"
I did one in Las Vegas at the New York-New York Casino Arcade. It was cool to see the POV videos that far away from the point, but overall it wasn't worth the $2. What a hypocrite I am though, I did Magnum first then paid to do it again and did Mantis...
I noticed them at CP this year, it's cool that they finally got them but it's way different when you do it at a place far away... at the point you can just walk outside and the coasters are right there...

That's what I thought. Why have coaster simulators in an amusement park? For your kid that's 47" ?
-------------
A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
Actually, if you think about it - it makes perfect sense....You wont get me on MF or Magnum for one simple reason - fear of heights....But I would ride them for all the other thrills they provide. But my fear of getting stuck on the lift is way too high to ride.....So, a simulator would work fine.....Also, I have a 5yr old kid - its unrealistic to wait in line for 1.5 hours while my wife waits for me with the kid, etc.....So, riding a simulator is logical until the kid gets old enough....
You have to think big picture rather than just about your own situation....
COSI in Columbus has a machine that allows you to view videos backwards and forwards and at different speeds by turning a wheel. There are several POVs of CP coasters that are neat to watch, especially in the backwards direction. No charge except for the COSI admission fee.
Now that's a neat idea to add a unique twist to a video! I'd probably pay for that one more willingly than simulators of coasters I can go outside and ride.

Are the POV videos just as low quality as they are on the site? Or are they the fixed up high quality ones that they had out for incredibly short periods of time?

The quality of the videos at COSI seemed fine to me. I never watched any of the videos on the official site so I really can't compare.
The quality of the POVs is GREAT. They aren't digitized or anything, they would be comparable to a POV on VHS...

Is there a Magnum POV on the simulator at CP? If so, where is the ejector seat?

:)
The coasters on the simulator include Raptor, Mantis, Gemini, Magnum, Mean Streak, and Iron Dragon.
