Cedar Point Closed Sept 5-6

Does anyone know why?

Progressive Car Insurance bought the park out. I thought it was only one day though.

It's a shame George Carlin died.

Good ol' George. He sure was awesome! He will be missed greatly.

We should dedicate this thread to him!

Cry me a river ohhhhh cry me a river babe....

Yah. This has been an "epic" year for deaths with me. My mom, grandma and than Tim Russert and George Carlin dies.

My mom and grandma passed away like 3 weeks apart and I was pretty close with my grandma.

ChrisC, where did you hear that Progressive bought out the park??? That theory was going around when the 2008 calendar came out and the we noticed that the park was closed to the public the same weekend Progressive bought out Geauga Lake. However, someone pointed out that Honda bought out the park that weekend in the the thread where first originally discussed the buyouts.

As a Progressive employee, I can tell you that we haven't been told of a CP buyout for our summer event. As much as I'd like to see that happen, I don't think it's going to as the company has certain "rights" to another Cleveland attraction :)

It is a sad thing that George Carlin died. But did I miss something? Was he a spokesperson for Progressive or something? I remember him from his stand up. Sorry to hear about your losses Factory81. I have you beat though. My uncle passed away from a long battle with lung cancer Christmas morning. Maybe 09' will be a better year... Anyway, how much do you think it would take to rent CP out?

No, you didn't miss anything. I took the thread and derailed it since we already discussed this to death in another thread.

Mostly because I'm a dick.

lol alright. In that case, you are a dick. haha. J/Jk.

Thanks. :)

factory81, I'm sorry about your losses. It's hard enough to lose a grandparent, let alone a parent in the same time period. My condolences.

Edit: and Jesz, sorry for you too.

Thanks Mike. O, well then sorry for your loss loopy. :( How are you coping? lol. And was he really? I liked him on American Idol A LOT. But to be honest I never cared to much for him off of the show.

I'd also like to add that I made more than one post without being negative, see it really does happen, Jesz.

I thought from when this speculation first came up that is what was said. I guess I was wrong, sorry.

I lost my best friend to a horrible house fire when I was 9. I lost my other best friend to leukemia when I was 10. I lost my grand father when I was 11. I lost my cousin to a drunk driver car accident when I was 12. Since I turned 13, nothing bad has happened. Knock on wood. Those were the worst years of my life. One bad thing after another. And as a kid too...

No Mike, not a fan. I was just throwin' it out there.

Yeah Ashley, it sucks. I lost my Grandmother at age 8 and my Grandfather at 11. Then George Carlin dies and all Bill O'reilly can do is show a 7 year old clip of him harassing George about his use of the "F" word.

Seriously Bill, have you seen your clip about "doin' it live" recently? Does Fox even consider itself a news channel anymore or are they now affiliated with TMZ?
