The send them to the Michigan, Indiana, Kentucy, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, area etc.
Jeff is correct.

No reason to go to Norwalk???? Are you crazy??? ;) Gotta have something to do when I'm not at the park.
I'm excited to ride, can't wait until May...

I'm picturing a bunch of marketers sitting around a table and think that's a good phrase to use -- "hmm... how about 'hot drag racing action'?" :)
Cracks me up. :)

You want proof that Cedar Point is only concerned with a defined marketing area? Look no further than the Getaway Guides. They don't send them to people in California, Florida, Texas, etc.
I lived in Jacksonville, FL from early 1999 through late 2001 and got a Getaway Guide in the mail every year. I visited the park each of those years and was a resort guest each of those years. Kind of seems silly to ignore a segment of guests by refusing to send them promotional material.
I'm not saying your wrong, but I got them in Florida and they got my $$$ because of it.

If you build it, they will come!
If people from overseas or whatever DO come to the park, great! That is a fringe benefit. Cedar Point is concerned with the people in the 5 or 6 state area and bringing those people to Cedar Point instead of them going to King's Island, Six Flags Geauga, etc.
If they had not added a ride since Magnum since 1989 do you think that 3.25 million guests would have gone to Cedar Point last summer? Of course not. They need to top THEMSELVES to keep people coming back.
If anything, Cedar Point is in competition with its own reputation.
One other thing..."If you build it, they will come" does not apply to the amusement park business. Just ask the folks to the east.

But you didn't get a mass mailing in Florida.
Oh, I see. I wasn't aware that they did mass mailings locally. Understood. I never got a mass mailing in western PA (pittsburgh area) either. sigh...
But we never requested them, I believe they're most likely sent to the previous year's resort guests also.

I've said it a thousand times, most Ohioans don't even know or care that SFMM exists. Ditto for SoCal folks regarding Cedar Point.
Jeff -
How right you are. There was a guy from SoCal at work today installing some equipment for us, and we were talking about coasters. Of course the new coaster came up and he said "Isn't Cedar Point owned by Six Flags?"
"E"
You'd better believe it does. If you want good attendance, you must provide a new attraction of some sort that's actually good. If you follow the figures on a year to year basis and keep track of what new stuff that particular park gets, the trend is obvious. People won't go to a park if they've already done everything that's there 4 or 5 times without a new attraction of some sort.
The powers that be at Premier (owners of Six Flags) think that "if they build it, they will come". What they seem to be missing is that you must also maintain it, clean it, staff it, run it efficently, etc.
Cedar Point knows that you have to do a lot more than build it to get people there and keep them coming back.

BTW, I was right on the height and drop (420 and 400). I missed the speed 120 (I said 117).
BTW - In the old "Face the Facts" thread, it turns out that I was the one that it got it ALL correct (420/400/120). So nice to know that Jeff was talking about me when he posted what now shows in my signature.
Jdubya - I know we butted heads at one point in time regarding the height of Dragster. Now that the facts are on the table, I guess we are even. I owe you an ice cream cone from one of the very early "height" threads because the 420' actual height IS closer to your 450' than my original 380' estimate. However, in the "Face the Facts" thread, you suggested that everyone send the winner a buck. Go ahead and take your buck and buy yourself an ice cream cone and enjoy it while you are waiting in line for Dragster.
