After a visit to Cedar Point on Friday (when the park closed at ten), I started thinking about what happens when the park closes. Do people ever hide and stay the night? Are rides being worked on all night (if broken)? Is there a time Cedar Point really closes, as in they ask everyone to leave instead of just closing lines?
I apologize if these questions sound stupid, I'm just curious on what happen after the park closes.
I've been there several nights after closing, meaning platinum ride nights, and wondered the same. We parked at the Soak City lot for the last MF night and it was just strange walking from MF to the exit. No music, people, just quiet.
It gets really quite after it closes. We camp up there. I think everyone is so tired from the day they just go to bed. Or they must go off property and do something else in Sandusky.

I'm sure there's lots of activity that goes on overnight that most people don't know about, like cleaning, maintenance, etc. It's actually sort of creepy if you're at the park late, like for ERT. It's so quiet and emtpy, but it's also sort of cool at the same time.

I think that Scooby and the rest of the gang help solve the mysteries surrounding Cedar Point's haunted past. ...
Zoinks!
I spent some time on an overnight shift in landscaping for a couple of seasons. There's a fair amount of maintenance - ride and otherwise. There's overnight cleaning as well, from large Tymco street sweepers to crews that empty each trash can. In landscaping, it was mostly watering plants and lawns - crossing the park to turn irrigation systems on and off and hand watering using a sprayer or water tank. I really enjoyed working at night.
Even with a lot of activity, most of the park is very quiet. And very dark. I'm usually not one to get creeped out, but if I was working in Frontiertown or on the Trail, I always turned on some midway lights. :)
Jeff and I wanted to do a short documentary on overnight life at the park, but we weren't able to make it happen.
I know this might sound silly, but has anyone actually heard ghost stories about Cedar Point? People seem to make up stories about every place, just wondering if there were any floating around about Cedar Point.

There are a few. One of the rooms off the Rotunda at Breakers is supposedly haunted by a young woman who jumped and killed herself after some type of problem with her lover.
The Frontier Carousel building is supposed to be haunted. This is the building that contains the Halloweekends haunt next to Wave Swinger. When the carousel was still in the building, legend has it that it started running by itself in the middle of the night, no one pressed the on button.
I'm sure there are more, but those are the two I remember.

Here is a pretty good thread about Haunted Cedar Point

I've noticed that the Pagoda Cam turns off at park closing, maybe so you can't see anything?
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
I've seen the Pagoda Cam working after hours. It looks deserted but every so often you might see a person or two or trucks going through or trash bags sitting out and then they disappear suddenlywith the next pic.
We were there all day during coaster mania and after park closes its like walking through one of those abandoned amusement parks. Its so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. I found it sort of funny that they were mowing the grass in several areas at midnight lol.
One odd thing is at night/am if you get to the park very early (like 0600) for stuff like parking bans/busy days/ect. You can see the park slowly come to life (music coming on, lights turning on/off, ect...it's somewhat odd. One minute, quiet, peaceful, then the next, bam, there's random pop music and lights

Last year, after the first-ever 30-minute weekly ERT, I got stalked by a pickup truck on my way back to the Soak City lot.
It literally followed me on the midway, repeatedly getting close and blowing its horn. My gestures and attempts to get out of its way were ignored.
I was the only non-employee walking back there, and it was more than a little spooky.
I've often wondered if it would be possible for a guest to camp out in the park overnight without getting caught. There's probably too much activity going on for someone to successfully pull that off.
I think it could be done. I feel like if you hid in the woods over by iron dragon you wouldn't get caught. The hard thing would be getting back on the midway though.
Remaining in the park after hours, without being authorized to do so, constitutes criminal trespass.
The likely result is being arrested, criminally charged, and banned from the park. I'm sure CP police could tell stories.
Please, no trespassing. If you're familiar with KIC you'll know what I'm talking about.
