Cedar Point a little lazy?

Does anyone else think that Cedar Point is real lazy when it comes to themes and environment? The theme for a Cedar Point coaster consists of the sign at the entrance to the ride. Rides like Batman and that Volcano one have cool themes and settings not to mention the unbeliveable atmosphere of Nemisis and Nemisis Inferno. When CP does attempt at givin some atmosphere to a ride they usually give up with it in a couple of years. Like for example Magnum's first year had these really cool strobe lights that looked like they were chasing each other up the hill and ther was smoke and strobe lights in the tunnels, now nothing. Disaster Transports theme is now a disaster. And remember when going through the cobra roll on raptor lights went out and strobe lights flashed? It seems that also with a new ride each year comes more concrete and less trees. Am i asking too much of an amusement park??

Cedar Point amusement park, good. Cedar Point theme park, bad.

"And now for something completely different" MPFC

The Magnum strobes had a problem with losing a strobe controller every time the ride suffered a lightning strike.

Disaster transport, I have no excuse for.

Raptor's strobes were still running as of the second to last weekend of this season, I didn't pay attention closing night.

Cedar Point is an amusement park. That is their primary focus. Theme parks and amusment parks are distant cousins of each other. They bare enough resemblance to each other to tell they are related, but that's about it. Never go to one expecting the other, you'll just be let down.

If I say "Accio Magnum" while holding a wooden dowel rod do you think it would work as intended?

I can understand what you're saying, but you also have to keep in mind that CP is gonna get roughly 3 - 3.5 million visitors a year or so regardless of their maintenance costs. Each time they add a coaster, that maintenance budget becomes quite a bit bigger.

Other major parks have axed a lot more than lights or special effects to add something new (read: SFGAM) If CP chooses to make relatively small cuts somewhere in their budget to assist in justifying the expense of another major attraction instead, I say more power to 'em.

I remember when I first started at this site 50 billion years ago and I asked the same question. Muh Gawd, it wasn't pretty. I learned my lesson though.

Cedar Point is not lazy, they just have certain priorities. They don't deal with themes (or try really hard not to) because they are not a Theme Park.

Cedar Point is a theme park. The theme is Coasters in Your Face without a lot of fluff.
LoL....Cedar point is lazy. Wow.

Cedar point's Coasters are great the way they are without themeing. Some coasters that have theming arent so great. CP is good the way it is. More theming would be nice though.

But, Cedar Point is not lazy, once again. Theming costs money. They can save that extra money and put it towards somthing else.

In most cases, CP coaster theming = the 'future', outer space and robots = that's okay, we've been there again and again. Just let us ride the coaster already. We still love you anyway.

I do agree with him on the fact about the trees! I loved some of the old trees, especially around frontier trail. Even though CP tries to take as few trees as possible, there is a long while before the new trees get as old and majestic as the one they took down.

in some ways i wish that the themeing was back at magnum. all of the special effects are still in the tunnels, they are just off, w/ the exception of the smoke in the third tunnel. maybe with #16 being so close, magnum could get somet theming back but i find that hard to believe. its kinda sad i guess. it was really cool to have the yellow chasers, the strobes and the outter space music. we wanted the theming back so much this year that for a few days there we started saying u have been cleard for launch, enjoy your trip to outter space. guess that ill just have to pray to the magnum gods that it will be back in some shape or form in 03.

BEER, RIDES AND FUN=CP THEME
I thought it was rides fries and chicks!? When did they change that? :) Some of the rides are themed. Mantis, OTSR are like a mantis' grip on you, Raptor train looks like a bird with you sitting in its claws. However very minor theming they do do a little theming. ~~~~~~~50 million years ago, your moma was a fish???
MmmmMMmm.....rides, fries, and Chicks! MmmMMmm!

Ok already; RIDES, GIRLS, BEER, FRIES=CP FUN
Cedar Point rules no matter what. (Hey I'm a newbie to this forum!) But it would be nice to improve it a little, but even if now who cares CP's on the top no matter what!
