This was our first trip as a family to Cedar Point. My kids (18, 20, 22) had all been to the park briefly on school trips and were happy to go back. We stayed in Hotel Breakers, in a 2-queens+sofa suite on the 4th floor of the East Wing on the side that faces NW toward Magnum. The room had a great view and gets no direct sun on the screened porch. We found the room to be clean, functional and in good repair. No complaints. Poolside Deli was very close to our elevators and sold fresh Danish, bagels and donuts for breakfast. All during our stay, we saw maintenance staff cleaning the hotel, hosing off the sidewalks, etc.
Tuesday. Check-in around 9:30pm and dinner at Tomo Hibachi. Tomo was just as entertaining as other hibachi restaurants but the food was not quite as good.
Wednesday. My son and younger daughter wanted mainly to ride coasters. They were first in line at the beach entrance for ERT and split their time between coasters and Soak City. [Tip: We had just upgraded a couple of cell phones and moved our GSM chips back to the old junk phones so that we could use them in the pack without worry about a phone getting lost or water damaged.] The other 3 of us had breakfast back at the hotel and did the tamer stuff in the park. We all connected for lunch (Subway's) and supper (Bay Harbor) -- both good eats. [Tip: In the Bon Air lobby, you can find free coffee for hotel guests.]
Thursday. I went in with my younger daughter for ERT around 9:40 with the goal of getting her in line for Dragster. I'm not much of a coaster guy, but decided to ride Dragster with her (much to her surprise), and after that we rode Magnum. The others joined us for Thunder Canyon and waited while my youngest and I got soaked through on Snake River Falls. We dried off in the family dryer by the water rides. My opinion about the falls ride is that it's just designed for maximum wetness and not nearly as interesting as the similar ride at Universal Florida that has more turns and short drops before the big plunge. We got burgers/fries/shakes at Coasters, rested back at the hotel, and finished out the day with 36 holes of mini-golf and dinner at Friday's.
Friday. Take-out breakfast from Poolside Deli and checkout.
I wanted to post this, in part, because we had a very positive experience -- no observed line jumping, only one person smoking outside designated areas, a friendly and competent staff, and food prices not quite as high as we expected (compared to NJ restaurant prices). Staying onsite at Hotel Breakers had all the obvious advantages, and allowed the two parts of our family to keep different schedules.
