Cedar Fair's Monopoly!

Okay, the title is more interesting that what i have to ask. Would it be a good investment for Cedar Fair to buy the Six Flags parks up for sale?

It wouldn't be at this time because of how much money they already had bought the Paramount parks for...

But if they were to buy any they SF parks they should only buy a couple of them so they can first get the attendence and life back into the parks first before buying the whole Franchise and taking the risk of being in debt if they would buy all of the parks at one time.

They don't have the money. They said themselves they won't be watching the market to much for the next few years until the Paramount deal gets all the kinks out.

I'd hope CF would never be that dumb to buy a park in New Orleans. No offense to anyone who lives there, but I wouldn't put my money on that land.

I read the title and thought this was going to be about the Cedar Point version of Monopoly I've seen in the gift shops...

If they buy a Six flags park, it sould be Six Flages New England. It's well attended, with a good location along I-91 in Mass. Plus, it would be a new market area for them.

Please buy SF:DL. (I know they won't though).

101 on Magnum and counting...

SF:OT it's in the south where they don't have anyother parks and we need a new coaster and a better all around atmosphere. Plus right across the street is Hurricane Harbor water park which they could change into another Soak City.

If anyone was wondering about Cedar Pointopoly when they came to this thread I can tell you it is a good game and I own it.

New Season of 'The Office'. TONIGHT!!!

I also don't think CF has the money to make such a purchase at the moment, but if they did I could see them buying SFEG. It seems to have a good location, I'm not sure about the attendance, but from the pictures I've seen it looks to be a very nice park with lots of landscaping etc. The only thing about it is that there is no room for expansion.

As much as I would like to see CF buy SFMM, I'm not sure they would. Even if they hadn't of just bought the Paramount parks, SFMM would require a ton of money to bring it up to CF standards. I could see them buying it if they hadn't have aqcuired 1.2 billion dollars worth of parks, but I'd say theres no chance now. The money it would take after buying it could send CF down the same road as SF.

Thrills Around the Corner!

They'll never buy SFMM. Why would they? It's in the same market as KBF, much more so than, say, GL and CP. From a business perspective it makes absolutely no sense. The best thing that could happen to KBF is for SFMM to be sold for condominiums. (Not that I'm advocating this -- I hope to get to SFMM in August.)

Cedar Fair is begining to run into enough problems as it is. The last thing they need is any more parks, at this point. They seriously need to worry about their newly acquired parks as well as their present parks... as there is much worry about with the way I've seen things going over the last 3 or 4 years.

If they turn SFMM into Condo's, they can buy X and put it in at Michigan's Adventure. :) I would love them eternally for that.

^While unlikely I would love to see how they do it. Almost every coaster at SFMM is a terran coaster.

^I thought that theory was shot down in another thread. Maybe it was over at coasterbuzz. X pretty much sits on flat land.

While they're at it, throw Deja Vu somewhere closer where I can ride it (like in place of DT) :) I know its a maintenance nightmare, but it's such a good ride.

While it looks like it does, it is placed on a hill.

I still think closing it and building condos is best. Then six flags can sell the coasters whole or sell pieces that can be used as replacement pieces for similar rides, and sell all other things to other parks, and auction off valuable memorable pieces. They could then use the money to work on their money problems.

CF needs to watch themselves and not make any more meaningless accusitions for a while. I'm not sure how many more GL's one franchise can take on before running itself into the ground.
