Cedar Fair IT dept

I graduated with my degree in Information Technology, and was wondering if Ceder Point/Fair had an IT department or just has an outside company come in and do it.

What would Information Technology/programing be considered as at Cedar Point

Thanks

I've been looking into the same thing since I'm graduating in December. Best I can tell the IT department, at least at CP, consists of four full timers and two seasonals.

There was a full time IT spot listed on line a year or 2 ago, if I'm remembering correctly. I considered sending in my resume, but I really don't know if I'd enjoy Sandusky year-round. There's really not much of a chance I'd live much futher away, because getting all the way to the peninsula from even downtown take a fair amount of time and I wouldn't want to add to that.

Back in the day the IT department consisted of two guys holding two tin cans with some string attached.

Fortunately, they dove head first into the 90s not long ago.

Ain't that the truth? I hear a few lucky people around there are even getting this fantastic new operating system called Windows XP.

Can I just get a hotel room key that acts as a charge card and a park entrance pass? Is that too much to ask? This is 2008 right?

Technology has no ROI.

I dunno, Disney does all of that, and I sure "return to invest" in them every 6 months. :-D

I was being facetious too.

The CEO can't get his head around technology or infrastructure. Until they have a captain that understands these basics they are going to continue to be drifting at sea with a rowboat that has only one oar.

I knew exactly what you were doing, Ben. I'm not stupid and my cynicism detector is always on.

Wasn't sure. And I figured even if you knew, nobody else did since I didn't ;)

To the original poster...

It depends on what you consider IT. A good portion of CedarPoint.com is handled by a company abut 30 minutes outside of Canton, OH. In addition to likely having a few on-site guys, Cedar Point also uses a number of other vendors for various IT projects.

I suspect that CP has at least considered bringing all the IT stuff in-house with the completion of the nice, shiny office building behind Corkscrew, but I haven't heard anything that would suggest I'm right yet.

As a web developer myself, I've long-considered working at CP in that capacity, but things haven't lined up that way yet.

The CP web site is not developed in-house, FYI.
