Cedar Fair buys SFWoA

This was shocking. Closing the Wildlife side of the park is a bad idea. I know many people who don't go to Cedar Point because they don't like big rides. They instead went to WOA for the wildlife exhibits. That's what set WOA away from CP. What would you rather do go to a mid size amusement park or a huge amusement park 30-45 minutes away. So, taking the wildlife park away wouldn't be good.

Opening Day - May 8, 2004 :) It's coming

Keep Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!!

This is awesome. I agree that the wildlife side should stay, if done well CP can do overnight education there and make some big money. The only problem I see for them is getting the animals. The Zoo's in that area don't have the same animals so there is a market. They could also do adult parties there....wine tasting etc... I can see them taking some of that side down for dorms, and maybe a hotel. I am very much excited to visit it this year as it has been many years since I've been there. I still have a sour taste in my mouth from when it was just SFO. Half the rides were down and half the waterparks. This is a very smart business move if CF does it and markets it well. Great Job!!! (Maybe Fascination will return to CP!! Since I think TPFNASFWOA still had the game!!:))

Bucket of beer at GameWorks: $13
Mushrooms for an omlette: $3.50
Hanging out with friends, and getting EXCELLENT partying gifts: PRICELESS

I have several thoughts as to who will be named the new VP of Operations. Now to see if either of the three people on my list move up.

So the Cedar Point passes wont work
So everyone knows I have heard the director of Merchandise and Games has got promoted so that might be the person. Maybe he is the new VP of Operations.

Closing the wildlife side is a no-brainer. Six Flags is taking the animals. There are 2 months until the park opens. Unless you want to see dog and cat shows there isn't anything left to see.

Dragster120!- Someone said 2005. I didn't get to read the whole thread so can someone fill me in on what they are doing to the wildlife side?
Read the whole thread please before posting. http://www.coasterbuzz.com/2004-70-9246.htm

0g: as I mentioned in class today (;)) the chain already has differentials on season pass prices. A WOF park-only season pass (gets you into CP) is $60. A combo pass (CP + SC) is $90. Knott's passes list at $10 more than CP's, but are discounted to much less.
I have a Valleyfair! pass. I wonder if they will be good at G-Lake next year too or if they will just get a special combo pass for CP and G-Lake?

Was TTD the knockout blow for SFWofA?

Will Raging Wolf Bobs remain an Ace Coaster Classic under CF mangagment?

I'd like to see the wildlife side closed too. Maybe leave the old shamoo place open for a dolphin show or something, but get rid of that other stuff. If you want to see a killer whale do flips and squeal into a microphone, then go to Orlando. It's time to wave some cash at the city of Aurora and dodge the height variance. I'd look for a monster in 2005 ( nothing to out do the point)

Other guesses: Serial thriller name change for sure, or removal...lol.....Villian, Big D and RWB stay the same, X flight, Batman, superman will change names... I wonder who paid for those new supports? Removal of Mr. Hydes Nasty Fall.....I think I lost a tooth on that ride.....How about a new park entrance(location) to shake things up .

Will CF turn this place around ----yes....I bet there are a ton of CP workers who would relocate for a little more "bling bling"

Final word----Keep an eye on stock prices this week Six Flags is PKS and cedarfair is FUN. Predictions--Both up

This is Great! I love alot of the rides there, but the service and park are so crappy it put me off from going again! Hopefully CF will fix service issues and the park will run like a CF park should, then i would definitely go back a few times.

WOOF !

This is such great news. I am thorougly excited.

Someone mentioned Q-Bots. . .I wonder if they will be 'tested' here, so Cedar Fair can get an idea of what they're like, or if they are a 'service' that will be removed immediately?

I, for one, am excited to see the sponsorship removed. Is there anything tackier than standing in line, reading a billboard for CornNuts? (This ride is gonna SHAAAKE you up!) No more Taco Bell, no more weird things like that which ruin the atmosphere.

I am even MORE excited to see the awesome Cedar Fair team rename and probably 're-theme' the coasters and rides, at least signage wise. They are so talented, it's going to create such a buzzing atmosphere throughout the whole park.

I do have to say, the only thing keeping me from helping out at the 'new park' is the lack of housing.

What an exciting time!

"Hmm. . .we don't have anything like that. . .but I can give you this comment card."

I doubt Q-Bot will stick around. One of the many aspects of the Freeway system that CP likes to brag about is that is free.

I think Kinzel was even quoted in one article as saying that he doesn't like the idea of having a system that rewards people who are willing/able to pay more.

Right right, I don't like it either. . .It was just something that had been brought up over and over.

I am not too familiar with the system, and since it was 'in place' already, I am not sure how much of an issue it is to remove it completely.

Why can't they just give it away for free? Disney does that.

that rewards people who are willing/able to pay more.

He can say that, but it isn't true; witness Joe Cool and Resorts ERT.

Those things are not at the expense of other guests. Of course if you pay more they can offer more services.
