Cedar Creek Mine Ride to get Gemini trains?

According to Screamscape, an e-mail was sent in stating that Cedar Point may be trying to decide whether they want to retire the current "Cedar Creek Mine Ride" trains or not.

From there, they are thinking about using some of the "Gemini" trains. They are both hybrid steel coasters. "CCMR" is a Mine Ride Coaster itself while "Gemini" is a Special Coaster Systems model based on the Mine Ride, so it is very plausible for it to work.

What does everyone else think?

If this is true, guests of exceptional size will be happy.

I hope they change them, so therefore I can ride without sitting almost sideways because of my long legs.

While I don't put any weight behind the rumor, I wouldn't mind seeing those awful CCMR trains (or at least that awful single position lap bar) go away.

If they use the Gemini trains, hopefully the fiberglass tubs get a makeover. It would be silly to see the front car with the name "Gemini" just crossed out and "Mine Ride" written on the bottom.

I may actually look forward to riding this ride again if this goes through. Does anyone know how may extra trains they have for Gemini? Would it affect a two train set operation?

I'm pretty sure Gemini never had more than 6 trains, which leaves only two extras. So something doesn't seem right with this rumor of Mine Ride getting three Gemini trains.

I've seldom seen CCMR in three-train operation the last couple years, anyway.

I hope they do this! I enjoy mine ride. But the cars are just so small.

As far fetched as this might be, but does Excalibur at ValleyFair have any extra?

Screamscape also claims that a Magic Mountain blog about working out is a clue to a new superhero themed roller coaster so I wouldn't put much stock in it. Screamscape is useful as a place to view news and announcements from many different parks all in one place, but the vast majority of their 'rumors' are fanciful nonsense; Lance could tell us that water is wet and I would still want third party verification.

I'd have to do some digging, but I'm pretty sure several pointbuzz members have, in the past, emailed him "rumors" and they've shown up the next day.

There isn't much verification of sources at that "site".

Although a lot of the the rumors are false, some of the time they are true. Even if there not 100% true, they lead to something. So even if Geminis trains don't go on CCMR, we could still see new trains on it which is somewhat close to the rumor of CCMR getting new trains.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

I have legroom issues as well on Mine Ride. I even had the bar come down with a leg on either side. I was riding with my daughter. Didn't think anything of it. Ride op checking the bar and belt didn't either apparently. But as the train was leaving the station, I could see all of them looking at the bar and talking about what to do about it. Seemed to me it was even less likely I could fall out. But they stopped the ride on the chain hill and had someone walk around, release the bar and reset it.

That being said, I hope they don't get new or different trains. I like them to keep as much as the old/original as they can. I am not a power rider of Mine Ride though. Maybe my view would change if I was. :)

If they did get new trains, they could probably keep the same design. They just need to add a little room.

Is it me, or are Gemini's trains seem longer than Cedar Creek Mine Ride's? As much as I want to see CCMR get new trains, the ride getting Gemini's seems very unlikely. There are only 2 extra trains from Gemini. Plus those trains seem too long for the station on CCMR. There are only three scenarios I see CCMR getting "new" trains.

1. CCMR would be getting Gemini's 2 leftover trains. Then, the third one would come from Adventure Express at Kings Island (train three is out of operation).

2. CCMR would get its current trains refurbished.

3. CCMR would get new trains from another manufacturer. Most likely Vekoma or Morgan; maybe S&S.

^ Throwing an Adventure Express train on with two Gemini trains would look really weird since Adventure Express are actual mine train style cars.

Actually, the most likely manufacturer for a new set of trains would probably be either S&S (by virtue of holding the Arrow product line and parts inventory), or Premier Rides, which built the replacement trains for the Hersheypark Trailblazer.

I've heard the rumor; using the Gemini trains would allow them to switch to individual lap bars, would allow them to install an automatic bar release, and would probably work OK. Of course, it would probably result in faster operations which would make it possible for them to run with three trains, which they really can't right now...but of course they would only have two.

But a bigger problem might be that it would rob them of a ready parts supply for Gemini...

Screamscape has posted a picture of a Gemini car on Mine Ride's track:

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

Well if it's true I just hope they do something to make the trains fit the mine theme.
