Ceadar point 5/6-5/7 geauga lake 5/8

We left from michigan at about 11:30 on friday for our yearly opening day trip to cedar point. On the way dawn we ran into some trafic on I-75 south, but it wasent too bad. As we drove thrue 280, I was amazed at how much work has gotten done on the new bridge(s) and there is a support tower that is as tall as millennium force. At about 2:45 we arrived at the parking tolls, I flashed my season pass with the parking pass on it to the attendant and headed around the perimeter(sp) road. When driving around the park road, we noticed that they were testing all the rides. It looked like the park was open, but of course it dident open till the next day. Finaly, we arive at the hotel at about 2:55 and pull under the awning of the hotel to get our luggage out of the car. We went to go and check in, but the doors to the hotel were locked. At about this time, a hotel employee came and unlocked them and welcomed us to the hotel. The hotel is looking great this year, they did a lot of painting and the signs and doors have decales of hotel breakers with the years of operation and it also says "100 years".

The check in process went pretty quick, as the employees were still learning the ropes. Got my souvineir room key (that you get to keep) and proceded to our room. When we arrived at the room I noticed that we did not have a water view like on our reservation, so I called the front desk and they opoligized and upgraded our room to a suite at no extra cost......very nice!

Finised out the night by hitting the hot tub and doing dinner at tgif. By the way, tgif has higher prices this year, it was almost too high to even eat there. I paid $21.00 for a steak.

Opening day has arrived!!!!

We woke up at 7:45 showerd, and headed down to the coffee house restaurant for the $8.95 all you can eat breakfast buffet. What a great deal! I highly recomend this for breakfast.

We than proceded to the beach entrance of the park. They let us in at 9:01 am and we ran to maXair for our first ride at cedar point this season.

When we arrived at the line, the line was about 60-70 deep and continued to grow. We were the second ride out. The ride is great, imo it has more forces than delirium. All in all a great ride. The only thing that I did not like about it was the large boon looked kind of plain. Delirium has a checker pattern near the top of there ride.

Next up, dragster. The line was fairly short with only 1 que full. As we waited thrue the 4 or 5 breakdowns, we were able to ride after an hour and 20 min wait. What can I say....same great ride.

Next up was magnum.

The new paint looks great. The track was painted up to the first tunnel. The ride we had was one of the best in a while. One thing I noticed was the dead trees next to the exit ramp. Were these here last year?

Next up...monster and gemini.

Monster was ok, but I think they need some w-d 40. Gemini was lots of fun as well. Nothing new that I noticed on gemini.

Mean streak.

Crossed the new railroad crossing and headed to mean streak. Mean streak is not getting better with age. This was one of the worst rides that I have ever had on mean streak. It was like a jack hammer with a hint of son of beast thrown in. After talking to a friend early in the day, we were told that mean streak photo was no more because of slow sales. She was right, It was closed up.

White water landing.

It was warm enough to hit wwl. We noticed that there was new fencing around the border of the ride, and that the boats have been painted.

Time to eat.

Lunch time had arrived,so we decided on famous daves. We walked from wwl down the frontier trail past the millennium force train stuck on the lift over to the marina where famous daves sits. The ribs in this place continue to blow me away. Great food, but this place has higher prices this year ,as well as very pushy waiters that just keep agrivating you with up-sale items.

Returned to the park to enjoy the rest of the day and meet up with some friends.

We left the park at about 9:20 to head back to breakers to watch the fireworks from the hot tub. Fireworks were great and so was the hot tub.

We had a few friends over for a beer or 12, and we headed to bed for the night.

Day 2....cedar point/ geauga lake.

Started out the day at the coffee shop again for breakfast. Arrived at the park at about 9:45, hit maxair. MaXair was great again, only this time it broke down while we were on it. For some reason it would not park itself. It just kept swinging back and forth, only swinging about 15-20 feet. Sat there swinging for about 10 min before a gentlman who looked like he may have been from huss went into the control booth and stopped the ride.

Rode a few more coasters, had lunch at midway market. The waitress at midway market was hands down the best waitress we have ever had. She came by every couple of min filling our drinks and taking our spent plates. Kudos to her for doing such a great job.

Hit maXair once more before we decided to check out geauga lake.

We left the point at 2:45 and arrive at geauga lake at about 3:00 after doing about 80mph on the turnpike.

Paid the horrid $9 parking fee and found a parking spot not too far from the entrance. We added the geauga lake option to our cedar point season pass this year, so we showed our pass and proceded into the park.

First ride....dominator.

Great ride, love the floorless concept and the pink floyd music in the station. The only thing is it still seams to vibrate quite a bit during the ride, almost like a broken wheel.

Next up, raging wolf bobs.

A lot of track work has been done durring the off season. The ride was much better than last year, as the worst areas or the ride were totaly retracked. Only a short section of the coaster remains to be re-done. It was a good ride, but I only noticed one train. It was the same train as last year.

Next up, robots and dino island.

Dino island was our first stop on the south side of the park. There was a major rehab of this ride durring the off season and it shows. This ride was great, I dont want to spoil it.

Robots was next. This ride was well..........boring. The effect were too few and the storyline was not very exciting. I did notice Mr Spain was in attendance durring our 5:00 showing.

Back to the rides side.

This is were it took a turn for the worse. First stop, double loop. Same great ride, one of my favorate arrow loopers. As we headed off of double loop and over to villin it was broke down.

Next up, x flight, mr hyde, monrail, viper, and starfish. Actualy they were all broke down. It was almost like six flags was in charge of things again.

The only coasters operating on the west side of the park was big dipper and head spin. So we hopped onto big dipper and there was masive ammounts of air time.....great ride.

It was getting late so we decided to hit dominator and thunderhawk and head home. On the way out, we noticed they were evacuating people from the monorail with a ladder and cherry picker.

All in all, our trip to geauga lake was not so good. It was much better when we went in october of last year. I know it was opening weekend and all, but I hope they get there act together.

The highlights of geauga lake was the dino island ride and I have to mention the employes. They were very friendly and helpful, more than any time I have been to the park.

Sorry about the long report, I hope you get something out of it.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That sucks that Geauga Lake was so bad. I was planning to visit Geauga Lake on Sunday, glad i didnt.

Come check out the videos at www.extremepki.com

About the trees along Magnum's exit ramp, they do that every few years. I remember the last time they did it, we all thought they butchered them! But it turned out trimming them down like that helps start over. They will look nice later in season.

Went back yesterday and did see some green on them trees. Also, the first ride I took on mean streek this year was smooth compared to the ride I had yesterday. It was horrid.
