Castaway Bay Employees

Hello all! So I was hired as a lifeguard at Castaway Bay. I am defiantly looking forward to coming out on May 11. I have scanned the forums but I am wondering what people have to say about working at castaway bay specifically. What housing location is closest to work? Anything that makes it special? Are any of your going to be my co-workers? Anything think important to bring or leave (besides sunscreen, I already know that one.) I am excited to meet you all!

I will say that I think all of castaway is indoors, so you won't need the sun screen. I'm not sure they have anything outdoors, don't know for sure who covers all the resort pools. That's about all I know about castaway.

Don't know much about Castaway, there are a few on here that work there currently so will probably be hearing from them soon. But I know the resort pools are operated by Soak City guards. They have a rotation that is just resort pools.

As for housing you will most likely be put up in Bayside which is at the corner of First Street and the Causeway. Though if you are coming in that late Common's may be open and they may place you there.

The best perk is free access to Cedar Point, and discounted passes to Castaway Bay. But there is also plenty to do in Sandusky. Check with your roommates and see what events are going on. There always seems to be a bunch of group outings that are planned by different groups, so there is something going on every night.

As to what to bring, it is a very small living space that is shared with others. So don't bring anything of value, and make sure you bring a lock for the few things you do bring. You get free uniform service and you will be in your uniform A LOT so I don't see a reason to bring too much in the way of clothes, enough to get you through a week or two would be plenty.

There are 2 pools that are outdoors that are covered by Castaway guards. The Bay pool at Castaway and the pool at Breakers Express. Not all guards will work (or have a chance to work) those two pools, but they are outside. Most of the time you guard will be spent indoors. There are rare occasions they ask Castaway guards if they want to spend the day at Soak City guarding, but be prepared for at least a little outdoor guarding during the summer!
