Castaway Bay

Hi. Newbie here.
Has anyone ever worked at Castaway Bay as a housekeeper? if so, what was the experience like? How about the hours and also, where were you residing...in terms of housing/dorm

I worked at Castaway Bay last summer but not as a housekeeper. Housing is the same as Cedar Point and you will have all of the benefits that a Cedar Point Employee has. The experience is very different from what you would have at the park because a lot more local people work there because it is year round. This also makes hours challenging. You will probably hardly ever work more than 40 hours a week since anything over 40 makes you eligible for time and a half. In my department, we had staffing problems during the summer so there were a number of weeks I had more than 40 hours and I made bank. One thing that really sucks about castaway is that if you do not have a car you will have to walk to and from work everyday (about a mile) from the dorms. The CP bus does not take you to work during the summer. There is also no employee cafeteria at castaway but you get 50% off of regular food while you are on the clock. Castaway felt more like a normal job to me than working at the point because you only get around 40 hr/wk, it is easy to change your days off, a good mix of local people who know sandusky, and you pretty much know everyone working there.

I hope that helps. If you have more questions feel free to ask me although I was not a housekeeper so I cannot tell you much about that department except that they demand excellence everyday in cleaning.
