Castaway Bay, 1/20-1/21

Talk about the perfect place to hide from a snowstorm!

Arrived Thursday afternoon (ahead of schedule:) at 1pm and was pleased that we could check in right away, as our room was ready. They do let you pre-registar and head into the waterpark before check in time, but it was nice to get settled and not have to deal with unloading the cars after getting wet.

The pics you see posted really don't do the place justice. Very colorfull and festive! I am not a huge fan of waterparks, but found myself having a great time! The water coaster is more aggressive than I expected and the water slides are pretty intense. I just wish that there were more of them. The wave pool is, well, a wave pool. I really enjoyed the spa/hot tub. It is bigger than most and allows you to swim outside. An interesting thing to do in January when it's snowing like crazy!

Had a great time shooting pool and playing darts with my brother at Gills, the bar on the 2nd floor. The Long Islands were tasty and the food was Pizza Hut fair. Not to mention, we had the place mostly to ourselves Thursday night.

Friday morning was photography time. While the kids swam, we took some pics. I have a few shots that I can send you (4+ MB's) if you'd like to see them. My email addy is in my profile.

Overall, a great time was had! I understand why they are opening up the waterpark for day trippers. Everything was a walk/swim-on on Thursday. Friday was getting more Cedar Point-like (busy). Why have all that stuff pumping and heating for a 1/4th filled park?

Another great trip to Sandusky. I'm already ready to return to Lighthouse Point May 20th! :D

I went in and got a tour about a month ago and you're right, the pictures don't really show just how cool the waterpark is.
