Canadian Employees

It is too bad it is so hard for Canadians to work in the United States. You would not believe the red tape that you have to go through to get a work visa. The student unemployment rate up here is in the mid-teens if not higher. With Cedar Point only being a couple of hours away from the border, it is a shame that they don’t look here to help fill their positions. (Heck you can allegedly see Canada from Magnum).

With the Canadian dollar being so low, the $6.25 wage works out to about 9 bucks Canadian. (Well above the minimum wage here of $6.85)

See what you can do about this. I'm sure this company can use you.

I'm sure there's chance of being able to work at C.P. Heck a third of the employees are not American.

That is true, I had an employee last year that was Canadian so maybe its easier then they are making it out to be.

It is extremely difficult to hire an international employee unless they are a member of a student work exchage organization. As our Canadian friend has stated... it is very difficult and huge amounts of red tape. It is very unfortunate that it is not easier. If you are a member of an exchange organization it is much easier!

And the exchange program isn’t cheap. It costs $325 and that doesn’t even guarantee you a job. Also you can only work between June 1 and mid October. So much for beginning work at the start of the season.

I was looking at it last year, but I started looking too late. I would do it this year but I have to complete my 3rd year this summer so it doesn’t really matter. If only I was a dual-citizen! I don’t know if it has changed from last year, but the 1-800 number for jobs didn’t work in Canada.

No.. the number doesn't work for Canadian Residents. Sorry. We have had employees start earlier than June 1st, but you are correct that most of the exchange programs don't start until then. $325 is expensive, and I am sure you can imagine what the European employees pay. It is unfortunate.. to have someone who really wants to be here and have it be so difficult
