If you are working a ride that has a lift then you have to walk up it. Meaning you work, say magnum, you would have to walk to the top of Magnum.
In case the ride is broken and you have to evacuate the train that is stopped on the lift. Or (Im not sure the policy on Mantis) some coasters stop the train on the lift if some one pulls out a camera, so you would have to run up to the train and take it.

Wow. So wht will be the reasons that you will have to walk up the lift?
It's important to walk up the lift during training so you have experience doing it. You will have to walk up the lift during the season and it's good to have no fear doing it! I know I can zip right up gemini's lift no questions asked without a second thought. We go up there when the ride breaks down(and it will several times all season)you need to be able to walk up there to talk to the guests and make sure they remain calm and cool. Just be up there to keep conversation going I know I ask them about their day and trip so far, what rides they like dumb things like that. We go up the lift a lot for cameras too

Personally, I think Mantis has the best view of the park from the top of the lift. =)

Totally forgot about Wicked Twister!!
Not to mention it would be quite impossible for a train to get stuck on one of the spikes. If that were the case, ride hosts would have to climb the ladder attached to the support. Now that would be pretty crazy to do and fun to train people on!
How do you know if someone is using a camera? Is it visual, or is there a sensor that automatically stops the ride?
"Forgiveness is almost always easier to obtain than permission."
It's pretty much visual. For a lot of the rides they have camera's going up the lift that focus on the train so you can see what's going on via a monitor. Or, if a ride host see's someone take a camera out as the train is dispatching then you could stop it on the lift.

People are stupid and make it incredibly obvious what they're going to do. We would have about five holds a day last year because of loose articles last year.
Mantis' lift is 145 feet tall and does have an AWESOME view! Make sure you bring a camera with you up the lift!
